Question of the day

Thursday, Jul 3, 2008

* Every now and then, our lovable but supremely pro-Blagojevich commenter known as “Bill” overdoses on the Kool-Aid and goes off message. Like today, for instance

OK, Rod, its not funny anymore so just knock it off.

Sabotaging House candidates in YOUR OWN PARTY is going too far. Do whatever you want with the budget and talk bad about Madigan all you want but keep your nose out of the House elections, not that you could make any difference anyway.

I called Bill last night and teased him that he should come up with a new screen name for those moments when he leaves the reservation. I suggested, perhaps, a Prince-like “The commenter formerly known as ‘Bill’” name. My intern, Kevin, thought we could even give him a Princeian symbol. Perhaps a backwards “B”?

* The question: What screen name should Bill use on days when he’s fed up with our governor? Any ideas for a symbol? Explain. Have fun. And try to be nice to the guy.

Everybody needs a Bill on their team to keep things in perspective and be a reminder of the good things that the team has accomplished. In this case, his support of the governor has been consistent and admirable, even when its tough to be supportive.

To the question. On days where he leave the reservation, he should assume the name Governot.

Leonard. That’s the name of the patient portrayed by Robert De Niro in the Robyn Williams movie “Awakenings”. Maybe, just maybe, Bill is having moments of lucidity and has finally awakened from his Blagojevich stupor and sees the Governor for what he truly is.

Actually I like Bill. We have butted heads on more than one occasion but I’m beginning to think he’s not dipping into the sauce, er Kool-Aid, very much lately. We all have heroes. Blago has been Bill’s. But it’s really nice to see that once in a while Bill and I agree on topics and lately it’s been more agreeing than not. He really has nothing to be ashamed of using Bill for any of his postings. Anything else just wouldn’t be Bill.

    Beta Ray Bill

Beta Ray Bill—belongs to a race known as the Korbinites, who were almost wiped out when their galaxy exploded - a mishap that was caused by the Asgardian demonic entity Surtur. The Korbinites evacuated the last of their race via a fleet of warships, guarded by sentient ship called Skuttlebutt and a champion, Beta Ray Bill. Bill is a fusion of Korbinite and wild beast, a process that killed many Korbinites before it was perfected on him (although an insane predecessor “Alpha Ray”, is known to exist).
