Is there any rational person not up for election who can honestly blame Jody Weis for the homicide increase? I feel for the guy, going up in front of a bunch of grandstanding schmucks. At least he is very well compensated to deal with those clowns.

    O.K.

    Who do you blame?

You may not, but a lot of people in America do.

No wonder the list is so long. Look at all the supporters of the terrorists and criminals in general that show up on this and many other websites.

As a matter of fact, being buddies with former terrorists seems to be no handicap in running for President.

Schock and awe teams up with the most unpopular president. Perhapd he can do a follow up fundraiser with the Gov to support the capital plan and raise money for sending nukes to taiwan

TO, please tell us that your comment was snark.

==”All the money and concrete in Illinois cannot cover up the fact that scandal-plagued political insider Martin Ozinga has made a career of engaging in pay-to-play schemes by giving tens of thousands to politicians to win lucrative contracts and doing whatever it takes to make a buck,” Ryan Rudominer, the Midwest regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said in a statement.==

That is not a very effective statement to make, is it? It shows unbelievable desperation! This “kitchen sink” of slander is not how Rudominer was talking about Ozinga last month. It looks like he got some bad poll numbers and lost his confidence, doesn’t it?

Listen Debbie, it is time to bring in the people you know and know this district to replace the ideological no-littles who are financing your campaign. You will not win if guys like this one are speaking for you. His over-the-top statement is more damaging to you than to Ozinga. It is obviously poorly said and shows a utter lack of knowledge of Marty and of you. Voters will not buy this kind of smear and it only hurts you when this windbag opens his mouth this way.

Debbie, you are a great lady and your campaign needs to reflect that. People will vote for you if they know your sincerity and desire. You are nice. Get spokespeople out there that reflect your strengths, not theirs. Send them back to the Beltway.

Ozinga’s comments about health care are ignorant, even if (especially because?) he quotes President Bush as his source. In particular, the notion that “everyone” can get healthcare in their emergency room is particularly ignorant. You only get emergency care there - plus, you still get a bill. Woman with breast cancer in need of treatment - not going to get it in an emergency room. Arthritic in need of a hip replacement to stay out a wheelchair - not going to get it in an emergency room. And the latest cross-country studies of healthcare quality show the US, on average, lagging badly. But the key word is “average” - for the well insured, affluent people Ozinga is fishing for, his comments are probably close to accurate. Plus, they have the added benefit of marginalizing and demonizing the needs of “those others” whose votes he’s probably not going to get anyway.

With regards to this morning’s video: “I’ve got a fever, and the only cure is more COWBELL!”

  10. - Kevin Fanning - Tuesday, Jul 15, 08 @ 10:16 am:

LOL - I gotta have more Cowbell!

  11. - Captain America - Tuesday, Jul 15, 08 @ 10:30 am:

Weiss waa brought in to clean up the miscondcut/scandala and shake-up the status quo in the Chcicago Police Departemnt, much like the elder Daly brought in OW wilson after the Summerdale scandals.

Long knives have been out for Weiss since the day he arrived, especially after the major managemnt shake-up he inititated. I don’t expect the Weiss regime to be long-lasting - he will be here long enough to serve his purpose, which is to take political heat off the Mayor - not certain if he’s likely to be here for the full term of his three year contract.
