Unsolicited advice

Tuesday, Jul 28, 2009

* Dear readers,

You might want to click here and head over to Amazon to help the site’s customers by “tagging” Rod Blagojevich’s new book.

When you click the link, just scroll down a bit until you see: “Tags Customers Associate with This Product.” Then click the tags that you agree with, and/or create your own.

For instance, I created a tag called “Moron.” Clicking the Moron tag shows that Rod Blagojevich’s new book is already the second most prevalent product with that tag at Amazon’s entire site. It does have a way to go to overtake the first place contestant, however, but Blagojevich is, in my opinion, far more deserving.

This is not a call to dishonestly tag the new Blagojevich book. As Illinois political observers, we’re simply the most qualified of anyone to create tags for this particular author. So, please be as honest as you possibly can. I don’t think we should hurt anyone. The idea is to illuminate the process.

Also, after you’ve tagged the item, you might also want to create a search tag, which is just below. If you’re not an Amazon customer, you can easily create an account.

Please, report back to us what you’ve done. Thanks.

* Dear Gov. Quinn,

Today would probably be an appropriate day to sign this bill

Creates the Elected Officials Misconduct Forfeiture Act. Provides that the Attorney General may file an action in circuit court on behalf of the people of Illinois against an elected official who has, by his or her violation of the Official Misconduct Article of the Criminal Code of 1961 or violation of a similar federal offense, injured the people of Illinois. Provides that the purpose of such suit is to recover all proceeds traceable to the elected official’s offense and by so doing, prevent, restrain or remedy violations of the Official Misconduct Article of the Criminal Code of 1961 or similar federal offenses. Effective immediately.

Deb Mell voted against that legislation. Shocking!

  2. - Shore - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:14 am:

Rich Miller should write a book on recent Illinois Politics. No one will care AFTER obama leaves office.

Rich Miller should go on chicago tonight more. They do have teevee stations outside of chicago and equipment that allows people to be in one place and magically appear on teevee in another. It can’t hurt business to have a face on teevee in state’s biggest market more often.

  3. - George - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:15 am:

Personally, I think I will wait until I read the book and make a judgment then.

From my perspective - the entire book could be 100% accurate, and he still should have been removed from office.

    Capt Fax:
You and I have known some moron’s and I believe your effort is a disservice to those fine people
The tag should have been sociopath. Or weasel, but that might have been a disservice to all the honest, god fearing weasels in the world.
Have a great day Are you getting a cut from all the biz stirred up for Amazon?

=== equipment that allows people to be in one place and magically appear on teevee in another.===

Yep. Invented many decades ago. Problem is getting WTTW to pay for the satellite time.

  6. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:23 am:

CircularFiringSquad, you can always add that tag.

  7. - VanillaMan - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:35 am:

I believe that those who supported Mr. Blagojevich for office in 2006 should be required to read his book.

    Starting with our current president.

  8. - Shore - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:37 am:

You should not discount the book. Many texans made a lot of money on bush, and obama is slightly more popular.

    satellite can’t be that expensive.

I added sociopath and narcissistic personality disorder for everyone to enjoy. Apparently Henry got to Testicular Virility first.

=== I believe that [all] those [GOP’ers] who supported Mr. Blagojevich [getting billions of dolars in captal spending to work huge pay toplay deals with, which Mike Madigan blocked] should be required to read his book. ===

Thought you might want to include the group that pushed for what would have been the most costly corrupt givewayway handout scheme in IL history to the list.

  12. - Anon - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:41 am:

Vanillaman — maybe his campaign co-chairman could read the book while he’s eating his daily apple.

or Cross and Kirk could tell him about its conents after they explain how they were willing to give Blago billions in pay to play money in exchange for a little pork.

  14. - Irish - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:46 am:

Cast a vote for Moron. then added the tag “friggin nuts” lol

  15. - dc - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:46 am:

    I added a “don’t buy” tag.
Amy has a good point about Skype. You couls set up a shot with the lake in the background of the Cap Fax HQ.

Dear Bobby Jenks: Get that Big Hammer back in your toolbelt. You had Granderson 0-2 the other night and threw him a third straight heater — you know what happened.

Your curveball is your money pitch. Find it, please.

Dear AJ: When you start throwing out baserunners at better than a 20% clip, you can start riding other players for their defense. Until then, douse those Manson lamps and let Ozzie handle it.

Dear Alexi Ramirez: You’re not a kid anymore, you have to work at your game. You have the potential to be a five-tool star — don’t waste it.

Rich has been on Chicago tonight, interviewed by Carol Marin in the rotunda around impeachment time.
Will all the extra tags at Amazon help sell more books? Or make people stay away. I see the book is already discounted, not a good sign if Rod and Patti want to keep their home in Ravenswood and daughters in parochial schools.

  20. - OneMan - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 12:36 pm:

Interesting how everytime I mention Blagojevich, partisans want to try to tie this former Democratic leader to the GOP. According to Mr. Blagojevich, it was Michael J. Madigan who was the Republican who fought against his criminal administrative rule. Blagojevich was brought to the dance by his fellow Democrats, including Mr. Madigan. The fact that there are some in the minority party who voted with the majority, just means that to some Democrats, being bi-partisan is just a way to tie a Democratic governor they are ashamed of, to the party they loath - turning the entire thing into another partisan lie.

When you supported Blagojevich in 2006, you sold your soul to the Devil knowingly. Man up and take the blame.

    unsolicited advice…

    Dan Hynes,

please address the funeral fund issuse that has been dogging your office for a few years now. Truthfully speaking you’ve probably sat on this a little too long, as Rich Miller suggested several weeks ago. (in retrospect he was right btw; i was wrong)

What’s the deal with the denial of FOIA request(s)?

Clearly Quinn feels threatened by you, and Chris Kennedy.

It is my understanding that as Governor he can have your office aduited, or at least I read something to that effect.

Also, hold a press conference or something to get rid of lingering public misperceptions about what your office does with respect to cemeteries. Sadly, too many people for some reason are still under the impression that your office could have prevented the crimes alleged to have occured at Burr oak.

  29. - Conservative Republican - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 6:29 pm:

    new tag: “jury influencing”

…what the book is, or attempts to be

  30. - Sharon Dornberg-Lee, Chicago - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 7:24 pm:

LOL! Tagged “moron” but added “legal defense fund” so folks will know where the proceeds are going if they buy the book.

We need a bud light real man of genius commercial for Blago.

  32. - Lynn S - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:12 pm:

Maybe we do, but I doubt Blago’s ego will allow him to let Richard Marx write and sing said commercial. Blago will want to stick his paws all over it somehow…

  33. - I wish I were Miss Guillen... - Tuesday, Jul 28, 09 @ 11:48 pm:

Rich — Did you see he has an audio CD on pre-sale as well “READ BY ROD BLAGOJEVICH”! Prospect for the best gag gift ever…
