Question of the day

Wednesday, Jun 15, 2011 - Posted by Rich Miller

* The Sun-Times reports that Rob Lowe will play Drew Peterson in an upcoming Lifetime cable channel movie

Um, OK.

We’ve done the “who would play ‘X’ in a movie” question before, so let’s try a different twist.

* The Question: Who would be the least appropriate actors to play our various state leaders (past and present) in a movie? Explain.

  1. - Cincinnatus - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 11:37 am:

    Charlton Heston as Pat Quinn

  2. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 11:38 am:

    Ricky Tendons as MJM

  3. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 11:38 am:

    It would be highly inappropriate for Andy Dick to play Speaker Madigan, Tom Green as John Cullerton, Sasha Baren Cohen as Rahm Emanuel.

    But it might be funny. Add Johnny Knoxville as Bill Brady and Don Rickles as Pat Quinn and the screenplay writes itself. Lots of flatluence jokes and whatnot.

  4. - Cheryl44 - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 11:39 am:

    If there’s ever a call for someone to play Dick Mell, he should play himself. I can’t think of anyone who looks more like the guy Central Casting would send over if someone needed a Chicago pol.

  5. - gathersno - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 11:46 am:

    Rod Blagojevich playing Paul Simon

  6. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 11:50 am:

    Quinn = Doug Heffernan

    Madigan = Will Ferrell

    Cullerton = Adam Sandler

    Rodango = Jane Lynch

    Cross = Rob Schneifer

  7. - Montrose - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 12:01 pm:

    Quinn = Brad Pitt

    Madigan = Hugh Jackman

    Cullerton = Jon Hamm

    Cross = George Clooney

    Radogno = Angelina Jolie

  8. - Elmhurst - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 12:01 pm:

    I’ll second Will Ferrell as Madigan.

    Shia LeBeouf as Aaron Shock, mostly because he’s inappropriate to play anyone.

    Jeff Bridges as Daley would be good mismatch.

    And that horrible sitcome character that Ricky Gervais’ charcter played in season 2 of Extras as Bill Foster.

  9. - Cincinnatus - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 12:07 pm:

    Pat Quinn, playing himself.

  10. - BigDoggie - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 12:08 pm:

    Dolph Lundgren as Richard J. Daley

    Chuck Norris as Paul Simon

  11. - Phil - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 12:13 pm:

    Nathan Lane for Mike Madigan. Lane is generally overly emotive in his roles. Pretty sure no one has ever characterized the Speaker of the House as overly emotive.

    Alex Baldwin as Blago

  18. - just sayin' - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 12:46 pm:

    Jim Caray - Mike Madigan
    The clown playing the “boss”
    Rosanne Barr - Lisa Madigan
    Please…..

  22. - Jake From Elwood - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 12:56 pm:

    For that matter, Ronald Reagan for most of the current Illinois Republican leadership. They are more appropriately played by character actors like Ed Begley, Jr., Al Franken or Mike Farrell.

  45. - D.P. Gumby - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 2:04 pm:

    I don’t think Drew Peterson looks his part. Rob Lowe will be much better. But to the question, I see Chris Rock as Blago…it just seems so Bleepin Golden!

  50. - Boone Logan Square - Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 3:27 pm:

    ==Steve Carell as Rod Blagojevich.==

    I’ve said it before, but that’s the best possible casting of Rod.

    Least appropriate: Mark McKinney as the Chicken Lady as Mark Kirk.

    Best casting of creepy Illinois murder: Brian Dennehy as John Wayne Gacy.
