OK, Tom, stop begging

Wednesday, Mar 14, 2012

* Tom Bowen over at the mayor’s campaign listened to some new radio ads I posted in the subscriber section this afternoon and has now taken it upon himself to persuade me to release the spots to the Interwebtubes public. I like Tom, always have. And I just hate to see him look so silly on Twitter, so I am relenting.

These radio ads were produced by former state Sen. Rickey Hendon for state Sen. Annazette Collins (D-Chicago) and Napoleon Harris (D-Flossmoor) in their respective Senate primaries. Hendon’s black radio spots are legendary.

First up, the Collins spot…

Now one for Harris…

You’re welcome, Tom.

    Thank you Rich.

  2. - OneMan - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 2:42 pm:

If Hollywood does a anti-JJJ ad it could be the greatest radio ad ever…

  4. - TCB - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 2:59 pm:

Seriously….do Chicago voters seriously respond to these kind of ads?

    Hellloooo Ladies….

TCB, not always, but Rickey’s candidates tend to win.

  8. - J - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 3:05 pm:

Yet another reason why Tom Bowen rocks

  9. - Davey Boy Smithe - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 3:19 pm:

He left out the part about getting a state scholarship no matter where you live. Other than that, not bad.

  10. - Boone Logan Square - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 3:28 pm:

In my dreams, Hollywood Hendon hosts a daily show on WLS or WGN. Imagine the transition between the Don Wade & Roma show and him…

  11. - SportShoz - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 3:45 pm:

They forgot to mention that Senator Collins voted for the ComEd rate hike over the Governor’s veto… oh, wait maybe they left that out on purpose.

  12. - Kasich Walker, Jr. - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 3:57 pm:

    @ArchPundit:

“Hey, everybody! I gotta a gas can, too!”

“Why lookie there. It’s Governor Quinn!”

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! The Harris ad sounds like those speacial movies no one is supposed to know you watch. Listen to the cheesy background music!!!! Why???

  15. - Winchester - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 6:53 pm:

That’s spectacular. Hollywood Hendon should move into Harpo now that Rosie’s gone.

  16. - Shore - Wednesday, Mar 14, 12 @ 7:33 pm:

Reminds me of the tim meadows ladies man movie. Harris was an NFL player-why don’t we mention that?

my mouth is open and I’m speechless. hollywood hendon missed his calling.

  20. - hisgirlfriday - Thursday, Mar 15, 12 @ 5:37 am:

I live in Annazette’s district and have been going back and forth on her and Van Pelt-Watkins (I know about Annazette’s troubles but I have had ZERO contact with the VP-Watkins campaign and Annazette has had calls from Personal PAC and loads of mail out to me).

This ad and one of the commenters though seals it for me that VP-Watkins has my vote on Tuesday. I don’t have a car so her gas tank on the spot bit won’t help me but I am a ComEd customer paying more thanks to her support for the rate hike.

    Thanks SportShoz.

Would the term “low information voter” be appropriate here?

  22. - Foxfire - Thursday, Mar 15, 12 @ 7:07 am:

    Sorry….I’m speechless.

I thought that Collins ad was from Amos ‘N Andy for a minute.
