Here’s something you don’t see every day

Monday, Oct 1, 2012

* Bad things happen when you hang out with Lindsay Lohan. That’s not in dispute. But a former John Shimkus staffer partying down with Lindsay Lohan is highly unusual

A 25-year-old former aide to Illinois Rep. John Shimkus — who was initially arrested on an assault charge after Lindsay Lohan claimed he grabbed her in a New York hotel room in an argument over cellphone images — was freed Sunday and his arrest voided when the charge could not be substantiated, law enforcement officials said.

Instead, Christian LaBella of Valley Village, Calif., and Lohan were filing harassment complaints with police against each other after they were interviewed by police about their run-in, law enforcement officials said.

He worked for John Shimkus? The man who believes that climate change is a fiction because the Book of Genesis says so?

I probably wouldn’t be surprised if, say, a Jan Schakowsky staffer was partying with Lilo. But Shimkus? That’s just odd.

How about, just for fun, we make up some other weird celebrity pairings with the Illinois delegation?

Apparently this guy has a thing for being photographed with celebrities. Perform a Google search using his name and you’ll find him posing with Bruce Jenner’s wife and with Paul Ryan.

  2. - CircularFiringSquad - Monday, Oct 1, 12 @ 10:46 am:

Didn’t Shimkus handle the last page scandal cover-up? Seems quite likely to have a Lindsay boy toy…better than Mr. Dreamy, Pizza Bobby, DeadbeatJoe or …..

Pat Quinn could not explain why he decided to go visit the Gathering Of The Jugalos this year…

A Walsh staffer explained his visit to hemp fest being the result of forgetting which Joe Walsh he worked for.

This whole thing is just bizarre. I still don’t understand the backstory or how the confrontation even happened.

  7. - just sayin' - Monday, Oct 1, 12 @ 10:58 am:

Doesn’t the guy currently work for Shimkus? One of the headlines said “former” but other stories indicate he was still on staff. Not clear though.

And actually, anyone who is familiar with Shimkus’ operation knows it’s, how should a say this, maybe “fashionable”?

  12. - John Galt - Monday, Oct 1, 12 @ 11:13 am:

    Small point:

Shimkus did not say he believes that “climate change is fiction.” In fact, in the Politico article you link he’s quoted as saying:

“Now, do I believe in climate change? In my trip to Greenland, the answer is yes. The climate is changing,” he added. “The question is more about the costs and benefits and trying to spend taxpayer dollars on something that you cannot stop versus the changes that have been occurring forever. That’s the real debate.”

He believes in climate change. I think he questions whether it’s manmade and/or additionally, whether it’s worth the cost/benefit to our economy to try to reverse the effects.

But the Bible reference pertains to his belief that the planet will not be DESTROYED by it. Saying that he doesn’t believe in climate change at all because of a Bible referense is not accurate.

  14. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Oct 1, 12 @ 11:15 am:

    Lunch ‘em!

Was that Speaker Mike Madigan having luch with (gasp) the Kardashians?

To wit: Speaker Madigan LOVES Keeping Up With The Kardashians and invited Kim and he whole family to O’Briens for lunch.

Upshot: All the Kardashians made the lunch, including Bruce Jenner, who no one recognized from his 1976 Gold Medal triumph.

Downshot: No Kanye West, and the Speaker brought CDs for the artist to sign.

Me Thinks the Speaker might be someone who might be a regular on the show after such a first great meeting.

Also, Ald. Ed Burke and his wife Justice Anne Burke lunched right next to the Speaker and the Kardashians with their good friend Jay Doherty and had a splended time, while dividing Chicago among the three of them.

=Mark Kirk and Justin Bieber partying at Q-bar Bangkok.=

I feel like Chevy Chase’s character in European Vacation where he tries to use a “translator” to figure out what the British guy at the Inn is saying.

Even urbandictionary has failed me on this one though I think I might have figured out what a “New York-style trance and groove lounge” is and even that sounds…well, somewhat unpleasant.
