    Wow. That’s early.

  2. - Dan Johnson - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 8:15 am:

I wonder if this is an unintended consequence of statutorily tying the Gov and Lt. Gov together as primary candidates, as if she is walking away from the Lt. Gov slot, it would only be fair to tell the Gov as early as possible that she isn’t going to run with him again.

  3. - Cincinnatus - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 8:18 am:

    Banjoer-in-Chief

  4. - Hyperbolic Chamber - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 8:21 am:

She had only $86k on Dec. 31. Must be relying on her name to keep people out - unless she’s “running” for reelection.

  5. - anon - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 8:38 am:

If she makes a move from her current job, surely that signals Quinn is looking elsewhere for a Lt Gov candidate. Hard to imagine Quinn would not have heard about, and blessed, Simon’s plans. Best bet for Quinn’s next choice would be an African-American…next best a Hispanic…and either would best have strong labor ties. But would any truly top tier option link up with Quinn?

  6. - Stooges - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 8:39 am:

Does this make sense? What is she going to say, that I’m going to run for something else, I just don’t know which office yet? I’m not a political pro but to me she appears as though she’s had enough of Lt. Gov and will take the next job that is open when the big players make their decisions.

  7. - Amalia - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 9:24 am:

rock on, Sheila! a wonderful public servant.

  8. - belmont cragin - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 9:40 am:

Maybe following in Robin Kelly’s footsteps by stepping down from her current post to run for a new office without using taxpayer funds?

  9. - justbabs - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 9:42 am:

I guess the SOTU is the official start of 2014 election season. It’s all downhill from here.

  10. - thechampaignlife - Wednesday, Feb 13, 13 @ 3:57 pm:

Just got an e-newsletter from Senator Frerichs announcing an exploratory campaign for an unspecified statewide office.
