But I made my money the old fashion way. I bought out struggling companies, stripped them down, laid off workers, threatened those company bosses if they didn’t go along, then turned around and sold those companies for a big profit. Yes, a few folks at nursing homes I bought may have passed away during the process, but nobody lives forever.
Government pension fund profits you ask? We’ll talk about that later.
Madigan and Cullerton do not make their own money from “big government.” They would do what they do, and make what they make, regardless of the size of the Springfield budget.
Rauner did not make the bulk of his money from managing government pension investments. Joe M above provides a better picture.
He did benefit greatly from government bankruptcy protections, and government funding of Medicare, however.
