* OK, it was a hacky headline. But, hey…
* More…
The law allows for discounts for up to 4 hours a day and up to 15 hours a week as long as they are promoted a week in advance.
There are limitations to the Happy Hour Law including serving two or more drinks to one person for consumption by that person, increasing the volume of alcoholic liquor contained in a drink or the size of a drink, without proportionally increasing the price regularly charged for that drink on that given day, and more.

I’ll drink to that.

- The Colossus of Roads - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:09 pm:
Despite his hard feelings towards OW, Governor Rauner decided to sign this bill and move forward with the Cap Fax blog/OW drinking game.
- PublicServant - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:12 pm:
Take care of that crazy Sunday AM liquor sale thing too. Also, while you’re at it, let supermarket cashiers swipe my booze across the scanner instead of having to call a 21 year old. Thanks in advance.

- Team Sleep - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:19 pm:
This is one of those “how was this not rectified years ago” type of situations.
- Daniel Plainview - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:19 pm:
Looks like capfax is going to be published a little later in the morning going forward, but the good news is Rich can now afford to lower the subscription price.
Win win.

I’m not sure that driving the state to drink while simultaneously reinstating happy hour is good public policy, but it is most certainly good business for local bars.
- Deep South - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:21 pm:
Will bartenders turn a blind eye to the two drink limit? Here’s hoping.
- Wordslinger - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:26 pm:
From years of selfless research solely in the public interest, I found the old law was either unenforced or very easy to circumvent.
Plus, treat your bartender right and you usually have a couple on the house coming, anyway.
- foster brooks - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:28 pm:
Looking forward to my 24oz drafts for a dollar
- Name Withheld - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:31 pm:

How about the automatic request for ID’s? I earned this gray beard, and it really irritates me when some snot-nosed kid says that I have to show ID….
- nixit71 - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:36 pm:
Cue up the Housemartins.

Is happy hour before or after the bobcat hunt?

- Keyser Soze - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 2:57 pm:
I think that fun was outlawed sometime during the Edgar Administration…..this is a step in the right direction. And, while we’re at it let’s bring back the 70’s.
- The Colossus of Roads - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 3:06 pm:

“Too late to save Norb Andy’s, but still welcome. ”
True, but you can always go to Boones or one of the other downtown bars close to the capitol.
- Henry Moon - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 4:00 pm:
And, why should the state be regulating this at all?
- Juvenal - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 4:25 pm:
So, does that mean $5 buckets of beer are back at U of I or not?
- Bulldog58 - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 4:32 pm:
No budget, no employee pay…Hey! Happy Hour Is Back! Now we can go to happy hour then go hunt bobcats…got to have our priorities in order now!
- Michelle Flaherty - Wednesday, Jul 15, 15 @ 5:12 pm:
An education budget.
Killing bobcats.
Happy hour.
We’re closer to a deal than anyone could imagine.

Let’s hope the people of Springfield actually go to a local business instead of a corporate Applebee’s, Chili’s, or Buffalo Wild Wings for Happy Hour.
This will help downtown Springfield a little bit, but the failure to put UIS downtown is still haunting this city. One has to only look at Champaign and Bloomington to see thriving micro urban communities in Central Illinois composed primarily of education and medicine.

“OK, it was a hacky headline. But, hey…”
No state budget, but happy hour legalized. Not amused.
