Thumbs Down: To Gov. Bruce Rauner and state Rep. Jeanne Ives for not contacting each other since Election Day.
It’s been more than three weeks since the two battled it out on the ballot for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. The two still haven’t talked. Frankly, the person who loses usually calls to concede the race. It seems clear Ives isn’t interested in doing that. Rauner also hasn’t shown any desire to mend fences.
No one expects these two to be buddies. But even Little League players shake hands and say “good game” after the innings have all been played. The two primary opponents need to talk and put this in the past.

There is no “paid for” disclosure on the site that I could find, but whoever is running it says: “This site is dedicated to exposing her lies till she leaves office.”

While I understand what they’re trying to say, it must be awfully comfortable to think of politics as only a game. But it’s real and important. If you want to take Ives’ perspective (I know you don’t), their disagreement is over literal matters of life and death.

To the post. It’s all about forming a campaign against Donald Trumps favorite Governor. Rauner backed himself into a corner coming into office thinking his money would get him everything he wanted. Rauner has zero accomplishments in 4 years and I would not call him a failure.. A failure is only a term that should be used for someone that wanted to do good. Doing good was never any of Rauner’s intentions when assuming office.

My guess is that if he tries to put the blame on Ives, it’ll only push her supporters further away from him (if that’s even possible). At this point not talking to Rauner is what’s keeping Ives relevant. What does she possibly gain by having a discussion? She can continue to maintain that she hasn’t compromised her principles and live to fight another day. Who knows, we might see her run for something down the road.
