  1. - LakeviewJ - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:06 pm:

Some serious looking guys in dark suits could show up with movint boxes.

  2. - LoyalVirus - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:06 pm:

Nope. When the going gets weird…

  3. - Bruce (no not him) - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:09 pm:

Oh, it can, and it will. After all, this is Illinois.

  4. - ChicagoBars - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:10 pm:

    Tuesday Full moon weirdness hangover.

  5. - Sayitaintso - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:12 pm:

Oh, yeah. If anything has been proven time and time again, “getting weirder” is more something of a challenge rather than a troublesome aspect of Illinois politics.

  6. - Thomas Paine - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:14 pm:

Full moon and Ides of November.

Ed Burke could back Waguespack’s minimum wage move and it wouldn’t even make the cut at WGN for their hour-long news at 9.

  7. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:18 pm:

Lightfoot could get so frustrated with her staff in Springfield she fires them all and hires all IPI folks?

  8. - jc19pd2 - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:19 pm:

In the holiday spirit, to quote cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation.

Eddie : You surprised to see us, Clark? Clark : Oh, Eddie… If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn’t be more surprised than I am now.

  9. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:20 pm:

    Rod could be pardoned?

  10. - @misterjayem - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:21 pm:

    Yes.

“The universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we *can* suppose.” — J. B. S. Haldane (1892-1964)

  11. - Dotnonymous - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:22 pm:

    Never weird enough…even yet.

  12. - Montrose - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:24 pm:

    Trump pardons Blago!

  13. - Montrose - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:25 pm:

OW - jinx, buy me a coke.

  14. - Steve - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:29 pm:

Danny Solis will announce that he’s having Thanksgiving dinner with his friends from his political career .

  15. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:30 pm:

    Fine… a coke it is…

  16. - p - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:36 pm:

Back off her Springfield Staff, OW. Unless you in Capitol you have no idea.

  17. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:39 pm:

    === Back off ===

Lemme get this straight; the gag is that… replaced by IPI staff.

That’s pretty weird. You *think* I’m advocating that, or that’s a solid thing?

    ……….

Maybe Mike Frerichs announces he’s not that tall, he’s actually two middle school kids pulling a prank?

    See. Weird.

  18. - L.A. - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:40 pm:

This McClain stuff could turn into something

  19. - Last Bull Moose - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:43 pm:

Lori Lightfoot asks the City Council to ban sweepstakes machines and approve video gaming city wide. She then requests bids for a City Casino at any location the bidder chooses under the current tax proposal.

Worst case she gets revenue and proves that the current casino bill is a non-starter.

  20. - Unpopular - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:44 pm:

Yes. Specifically….Rod could be pardoned…and he could be wearing a wire…

  21. - dbk - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:46 pm:

Yeah, it could and probably will get weirder. Much weirder, and sooner than later. “Corruption Round-up” may become a regular feature.

I can’t predict what/who will be next, only that there will be a next.

One thing that puzzles me: how’d this massive FBI investigation get started? A tip-off? Whistle-blower?

If it continues like this, the children’s ditty of Humpty Dumpty may become germane.

  22. - Simply Sayin' - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:47 pm:

Yes: The $54 million thing is real, but its a joint venture to pay off ministers throughout the state by Uber/Lyft, private jet maintenance companies, sweepstakes machines, and anti-pension consolation forces, to name a few.

  23. - Whatever - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:48 pm:

    ==Rod could be pardoned?==

No, but he shows up in an office on the second floor on work release.

  24. - West Wing - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 3:50 pm:

I’ve got the Netflix project - this has to be a Netflix series at some point.

  25. - A guy - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:07 pm:

After the Spring session, this was supposed to be boring. No overrides, etc.

This is pretty weird. Let’s hope it can’t get weirder, but never say never down there.

  26. - Henry Francis - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:08 pm:

    I don’t see how it can’t

== When the going gets weird…==

    The weird turn pro.

Have we ever had so much professional weirdness?

  27. - NoGifts - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:19 pm:

Peeling an onion is always weird.

  28. - May Soon be required - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:19 pm:

Yes if Oswego Willy got a real job

  29. - R A T - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:28 pm:

    Naperville elects a black mayor.

  30. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:31 pm:

    === got a real job===

You hiring? You’re here too, so…

    Weird?

The 51st state advocates get their bill heard

  31. - Keyrock - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:32 pm:

To quote the hearing in DC, “it’s not as outlandish as it could be.”

  32. - lake county democrat - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:32 pm:

A couple more inches rise in Lake Michigan oughta do it.

  33. - Earnest - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:37 pm:

It’s like digging potatoes. You get a bunch and the roots you’re pulling on thin out and break off. You dig to see if there are more further out. You think you’ve finally got them all, then somehow there’s a big one way off from the original vine you almost missed. Heck, even in the spring, if the winter was mild, something may sprout from what you didn’t catch last year. What was the question again?

  34. - Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:37 pm:

Sure. The deep mole driving all of this could be the Speaker himself, tearing down the apparatus he built up over decades. That would certainly be weirder.

  35. - Last Bull Moose - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:39 pm:

R A T Naperville already has a black member of the City Council. A black Mayor is not too great a stretch.

  36. - revvedup - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:48 pm:

Weirder?? I thought we just started?? There’s always room for more weird, especially in Illinois politics. But I decline to take any guesses; I’m afraid to be wrong or right.

  37. - Froganon - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 4:59 pm:

Trump pardons Blago. Blago is appointed the proxy for Arroyo.

  38. - Just Me 2 - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 5:21 pm:

This is Illinois. Where lawmakers can also be lobbyists.

  39. - Anyone Remember - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 5:48 pm:

IF it gets any weirder, this blog is retiring Godfather for the various Fear and Loathing incarnations. (”When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.”)

  40. - SpfdNewb - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 5:57 pm:

    -Anyone Remember-

Just keep the ether away from everyone.

  41. - Blue Dog Dem - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 7:02 pm:

Here is weird. Trump gives Chicago a $100 billion inner city grant. Trump dumps Pence. Names lightfoot vp. Trump wins Illinois. 4 more years baby. 4 more years.

  42. - Anyone Remember - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 7:41 pm:

    Blue Dog Dem -
Trump picks a gay VP? Won’t talk about the possibilities as the comment(s) would get “moderated” … /s

  43. - RNUG - Wednesday, Nov 13, 19 @ 8:31 pm:

Well … Illinois is pretty weird. Troy Taylor has taken the time to create a benchmark …

Some excitement is never a bad thing. But TII
