Does it really matter any more?

Posted in:

EE is such a disappointment.

On the Democratic side, Blagojevich has seen a slight increase in his favorability since last month’s poll, which may be an indication of the success of his TV ad campaign. Blagojevich also has refused to engage Eisendrath directly in public debate, denying the challenger the potential for wider publicity for his low-visibility candidacy.

A month ago, Blagojevich led Eisendrath 62 percent to 18 percent. Since then, Eisendrath’s support has been static while Blagojevich has gained 5 percentage points.

  1. Disappointment is right.

  2. WHO’S THE DISAPOINTMENT ???

EE has the fortitude to take on a governor who pretty much no one believes in or trust. I still would not count EE out just yet.

  4. Most Democrats I talk to say that even though
they can’t stand Blago and all the corruption they simply can’t bring themselves to vote for a Republican. When I point out that they could vote for EE, at least as a protest, they look blank. I think the Dem protesters may end up staying home rather than going in to vote for EE.
It’s unfortunate, because a substantial vote for EE would send a reform message that really needs to be sent, despite the overwhelming probability of a Blago victory. Politicians do pay attention to a large number of votes on any issue.

  5. I could vote for Brady or Eisendrath. Depending on which ballot I took.

    I don’t think I’m alone.

It’s funny because you hear people talk about this huge divide in American politics yet I think either of the guys could be good for Illinois.

  6. I typically would tend to vote in the republican primary because thats where most of my local candidates reside. I am torn and think I may get a democratic ballot and vote for EE. Blogo is such a disaster if many republicans defect maybe we can get Blogo off the ballot.

  8. A disappointment? Blago is the disappointment!
Eisendrath is a viable alternative for we Democrats.
I have already voted for him.

  9. You have to run a decent campaign to win. EE has not done a good job getting his message out or raising the money needed to do so. That is very disappointing. Fortitude does not win elections. I am surprised his poll numbers are so low. It’s too bad.

Comment by reality Tuesday, Mar 14, 06 @ 11:01 am

  10. Yeah this guy needs more than Moxie to beat Blagojevich. Blago needs to be sent home or more likely the voters need to shut him up by not voting for him.

Comment by Levois Tuesday, Mar 14, 06 @ 11:24 am

  11. He needs to step up to the plate, not just be on the roster.
EE did very little to raise his name awareness.
Few people outside of the hardcore politicos even know he is in the race… At this point Mickey Mouse as a write in may get more votes.

Comment by inish Tuesday, Mar 14, 06 @ 11:43 am

  12. Who are you more disappointed in, EE or Blago?
At least the guy has the moxy to challenge an incumbent in his own party, while many races in our state and federal elections do not even have a challenger from the opposing party. That is the much bigger disappointment to me. If the parties were really doing the work of the people they would be supporting challengers to run against long seated incumbents in their own parties and definitely against incumbents from the opposing party.

  13. Let’s face some reality-

At this point, the only truly logical thing for anti-Blagojevich Democrats to do is to take a Republican ballot and vote for Judy Baar Topinka, as she is the only candidate in the state who might be able to defeat him.

    .

I’m a left-liberal Dem and I can’t stand Blago. My vote would be an easy get for any Dem who bothered to tee it up.

I’ve seen maybe two TV ads at most for this guy. (Eisendrath? Had to copy and paste that. What’s the first E stand for?)

I do see his yard signs every day on my way to and from work, but only a couple days ago was able to actually get close enough to read what he’s running for.

    Truly anemic. What a waste.

  15. In the Metro East I’ve yet to see a single EE sign, let alone the candidate. I agree with 8:36, I can’t decide to torch my vote for EE or vote for Brady. Glad I haven’t early voted yet!

  16. The final chapter of this story has not been written , we the VOTERS have the final say in that. Are we willing to put up with 4 more years of sound bites, photo ops, back room deals, and programs that we the people of Il. cannot pay for.

EDWIN EISENDRATH has the ability and vision to turn this state around. I have heard his message and I aslo BELIEVE!!! VOTE FOR EDWIN….

Comment by TINKERBELL Tuesday, Mar 14, 06 @ 7:27 pm

  17. I am voting for Edwin anyway. I’m a Cub fan, and hope springs eternal so don’t think you can sway me with bad numbers.

Comment by Windy Tuesday, Mar 14, 06 @ 8:23 pm

  18. You republican posters claiming to be Edwin supporters are getting a bit tiresome. Rod is going to smoke Edwin, and annihilate JBT in the general. That is if she makes it out of the primary.

Rod wins HUGE next week; I’ll talk to you then

    Comment by B Hicks Tuesday, Mar 14, 06 @ 9:22 pm

  19. BHicks: You and RGod better hope George Ryan walks. If they nail him, RGod will be in the hopper next. Rove and crew already have him in their sites and JBT is the annointed one to take over this blue state once that happens. It will come down in mid to late summer. Having said all that if RGod survives the primary and the feds he would beat JBT easily. I just think he has a series of high federal hurdles to jump over in the next few months. The guy is downright sleazy.

  20. To Darrell Democrat, not only are signs going up in the Metro East, Edwin has visited the Metro East and will be back this weekend. Edwin also has an organization on the ground in the Metro East. I have no way of measuring the anti-Blago vote, but it is hard to find Blago supporters. I drove around East St. Louis, Washington Park, and Centreville. I did not see one Blago sign. On the other hand Eisendrath signs were up in the Swansea-Shiloh areas along with downtown East St. Louis, and into Centreville. There will be more up in the coming days.

Another observation I made was there are not that many signs up of any candidate.

This has been a very quiet election. If noise is going to be made, it must occur this weekend.

Eisendrath will appear on approximately 10,000 door knockers that will be distributed around St. Clair and Madison Counties over the weekend.

I encourage anyone around the state, if you are a Democrat and you are not satisfied with Blago, take the Democratic ballot and vote for Edwin Eisendrath for Governor.

GOOD JOB ON WGN MORNING NEWS.

  22. Hey PP, the last time we talked about indictments, you said that they would surface between May and July. Now, it’s mid to late summer. Your time frame keeps inching around.

    Comment by B Hicks Wednesday, Mar 15, 06 @ 7:08 am

  23. Where’s Eisendrath’s media strategy? Granted, (especially given the Republican woes lately) the GOP primary is the bigger story… but why haven’t I heard anything about this guy?

Saw another ad for him last night. Afterwards, the person I was watching with (no fan of Rod the Bod) sighed, “I wish we had a choice.”

    Pipe dream.
