* As you already know, Rod Blagojevich and his lawyers claim there is a missing tape of a conversation that Rahm Emanuel allegedly had with a top Blagojevich staffer the day before Blagojevich’s arrest which would, if exposed, exonerate him…
The lawyers say there is a “missing” recording from a Dec. 8, 2008, phone call between a Blagojevich aide and Rahm Emanuel, then the White House chief of staff.
Blagojevich says Emanuel, now running for mayor of Chicago, offered a deal to give [Attorney General Lisa Madigan] the seat and help the governor pass a legislative package. Last week, Emanuel said an internal administration probe found “nothing inappropriate or any deal-making.”
Even if the tape existed, this would signify nothing. As I’ve said many times before, Blagojevich knew the FBI was taping his conversations, so in my opinion he was most likely attempting to create an alibi for accusations that he tried to sell the Obama US Senate seat by announcing a Madigan appointment. He was busted before he could pull it off.
* Anyway, as it turns out, there is no such tape…
In a statement filed Monday, prosecutor Reid Schar said such a recording does not exist, and that if the conversation took place, it happened on a phone line which was not tapped.
“As the defendant well knows, from reviewing the discovery” said Schar, “there is no missing recording.”
Back to the drawing board, boys.

“I didn’t say missing tape, I said missing ape. And if found, that ape could testify that everything I did, I did on behalf of the hard-working men and women of Illinois. Oh yeah, he’d also say that everything bad that ever happened was the Speaker’s fault. Yeah, he’d definitely say that too. So I demand to know why the government is hiding that ape and keeping it from clearing my name.”

I must of missed the press confrence where Bush appointed Rham his Chief of Staff because George was still in the White House on Dec 08 2008.

The Blago team WANT a mystery tape to never be found. It allows the defense to cook up all kinds of wild theories and stories in order to make the jury have some reasonable doubt.
It will also tell us where Mulder’s Sister is, the location of the Ark of the Covenant, and where Jimmy Hoffa’s body is buried.
Gimme a break!

I’m shocked that Blago would go on tv and claim something that was factually untrue. WLS-AM must be outraged and the conspiracy to steal this governor from us.

TheIDOT case is being tried by a outside attorney? I bet that bill is more then 3 or 4 ag’s salaries would have cost us.

If you trust the FEDS you are dumber than you folks look. These guys frame people and make things up all the time in order tofurther thier own political agendas. Who here thinks Illinois’ top FED isn’t running for office?
In my mind these guys are as crooked as Blago. Rahm acknowledges the phone call, but it is the only one the FEDS didn’t record? Please???
