Question of the day

Posted in:

* The setup

Indiana’s Republican Governor, Mitch Daniels, once considered a potential candidate for U.S. president, will become the next president of Purdue University after a vote by the school’s board of trustees on Thursday.

Daniels will become the 12th president in Purdue’s 143-year history in January at the end of his second term as governor, his spokeswoman, Jane Jankowski, said. His salary as governor is $107,000

Purdue trustee and search committee chairman Michael Berghoff said Daniels, 63, was recruited for the job and was interviewed at length three times, earning the unanimous support of the search committee.

* The Question: What do you think Gov. Pat Quinn will do in retirement? Snark is heavily encouraged, of course.

  141. ===this thread has many hilarious distractions to the 16-1 score on the radio.===

    It’s 17-1 now.

Meanwhile, the 1st place Sox beat the Twins 12-5.

Come away from the dark side. Step into the light.

  145. Speaking of baseball and Quinn, he did a pretty good job calling pitches while on w/John Rooney when the W Sox were down this way a couple weeks back. Perhaps, he may have a real future in radio baseball broadcasting. (BTW, I like John Rooney’s broadcasting. He’s really great…and replacing Jack Buck was a tall order!)

  146. Steward, switch “Street Conductor” for “Trolley Conductor” and combine it with producing a remake of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, and he might qualify for heading up ILGOP.

  151. Anon, thanks for the Illinois Review link. Pat Brady clearly is suffering from something worse than exhaustion.

Maybe it’s a gag. Seriously, associating with Christie Hefner is some sort of scandal?

It’s hard to believe a sane grown man could string together that many random, unrelated thoughts — “Keystone pipeline…. Pelosi… trillions of dollars…. Playboy…. liberals….aaaarrggghhhhh,”and think it was some sort of effective communication — of what, I don’t know.

Let’s hope he gets the help he needs.

After all, Quinn owes his current job to the outgoing federal prosecutor.

  153. Yes, word, but I believe that this new form of communication and sophisticated way of thinking (which I will argue some others in the GOP have also adopted) should not preclude us from at least trying to respond in kind.

  154. Besides, I think think the last quote in the press release could generally be applied to quite a few scenarios and in those instances, may even carry a good punch when needed. And, whether one agrees or disagrees, it’s nice to hear someone at least trying to talk about, and put behavior into the context of, values again.

I was hoping for that job!

If Quinn has his heart set on it, then he can be Cross’ Caddy. Maybe Madigan will force a retired Quinn to do it, to make sure MJM knows where Cross is …
