A big thank you

* I don’t usually share usage stats for this blog because I don’t sell my advertising based on the quantity of eyeballs, but the quality. Also, I kinda like to keep that data to myself. But I thought I’d tell you about a few stats today.

The number of unique visitors to this blog rose over 10 percent last year compared to the year before. We now have over 40 percent more visitors to this blog every day than we did in 2008.

The 2012 stats show we had 9 million more total page views last year than we did in 2010. Every time I think it can’t get any bigger, it does.

Thanks!

  4. Well done, Rich.

Goes to show you, good work is recognized. This IS the place to be.

  5. While this information is a great compliment to the blog and Rich, I believe it also shows more Illinois citizens are taking notice and participating in state government and how it works.

The more informed voters we have going into the next election, the better for all concerned. And this is the best place to gather and dissect information.

  6. I would argue the Blago thing was the main driver, which brought a lot of national casual political followers and he’s probably due a lot of the credit, obama also helps given that you’re the only reporter that does this all day. During that trial comment threads averaged about 100+ comments and there were several a day like that. Now it’s about 10-maybe 40-70 if a gun bill comes up or some congresscritter says something stupid. Just a hunch but I think the blago thing, with a side of the 08 obama campaign brought people here and you’ve retained/grown traffic from that.

  7. I never expected anything less. The high standards of the blog and exclusion of the nutty element make it worth the time every day.

  8. I only discovered your site two or three years ago. Other than the NOAA weather site, this is the ONLY site that I check into every day. I quote you to people, and use the information from your site to try to educate others on what is actually happening in Springfield. You have a great site; congratulations!

  9. Rich,

    Next time …

    Cannoli “all around”!

If you need to know about what is going on in Illinois Politics, this is the First stop, and the Last stop.

First, to hear what is going to happen …

Last, to find out WHY it happened.

    Period. Return. New Paragraph.

    Thanks Rich!

I guess that means every comment that I post costs Rich money. Sorry and congratulations.

  16. Congratulations, Rich.

Thanks for giving all of us a place to hang out. I’ve told some friends that this is the virtual “Cheers” of Illinois politics. Don’t know if that makes AA Cliff and Willy Norm, though.

  17. Congratulations. This is the best source of State Government news there is.

  18. To build upon Mr. Miller, Sr., the “exclusion of the nutty element” is, in my opinion, the critical “weeding” that permits the likes of Oswego, Word, Michelle, soccermom … AND … people like Steve Schnorf to post and flourish here, and retain the readers and posters. Congratulations on a (continuing) job well done!

  19. Congrats! Of course the mis-managed State of Illinois, the clowns we have in the General Assembly and our Governor have provided the source for bloggers to comment. This is my first post. Just thought I would put my two cents in today. The usage on this blog will continue to grow if it is based on the nonsense that continues in Illinois. I enjoy reading the opinions on the blog…

  20. Congrats and well deserved- my first website I visit every day for the inside news on all the crazy happening over in Springfield. To echo others I also enjoy reading comments from all sides of the spectrum, and this is the only place where I can do that and not have to wade through tons of comments from single issue far-wingnuts like most other websites. Great work Rich!

  21. The most interesting and most important statistic (that is impossible to quantify) is: How many minds / opinions were changed (for the better, of course) by Rich Miller creating and nurturing his Capitol Fax.com? That is the “800 pound gorilla” as far as “how one man” can influence so many others in creating a better society. My guess is that this where the real satisfaction comes for Rich.
You can’t help but be influenced after looking at someone else’s viewpoints on the various political & governmental issues impacting Illinois. Maybe it solidified your previous views? Maybe it made you take a different position alltogether on an issue? Regardless of what conclusion that you arrived at, Rich Miller and his Capitol Fax.com made you take the time and effort to further reflect on your views “after hearing/reading an opposing viewpoint.” Now—”That is truly power”. Congrats, Mr. Miller.

  22. Congratulations on a job well done. The top notch job that you do with this site is why those numbers are so high. It shows that even people with differing political opinions, can have good conversations, and at times heated ones. You are known as having the best and most accurate info on what is going on across the State, and this shows as well. One more Thank You for something not mentioned in the Stats. You have in the past, and are capable of bringing together people across the State, and across party lines to help and lend a hand when people are in need. You should be awarded for your actions for that as well as your excellant blog. Thank you for both.

  23. Thanks back to you Rich. You are required reading for the politically afflicted in Illinois.
