It will be exciting to watch the cornucopia of young talent that the St. Louis Cardinals have — particularly the pitchers — and whether they get an extension done for Adam Wainwright.

cubs will be done by 2nd week in april which means another late summer of tickets costing less than the beer-which my wallet will appreciate.

The Cubs won’t do anything to garner taxpayer support for Wrigley improvements. No light at the end of that tunnel.
Why did they give Edwin Jackson big money? He’s the definition of pedestrian, and they’ll still lose a hundred games.
I’m not sure about the Sox. They’re pretty old, and a lot of things have to go right for them to compete with the Tigers. Catcher is a big concern, as is Sale’s arm eventually snapping off with that crazy delivery.
But certainly much more hope on the South Side for entertaining baseball.

I was also curious to hear thoughts on the hall of fame shut-out. Kinda like not putting blago’s portrait in the capitol…yeah he was governor but does he deserve the recognition? Does the hall vote them in based on the numbers and wear the past (warts and all) or does it take a stand?

White Sox have enough pitching to stay in the hunt. Of course, if they are out of it by the All Star Break they have a lot of tradeable parts to get some young players to rebuild.
Cubs will still stink. But I say they lose “only” 95 games. Progress!

With Houston no longer in the division, the Cubs are in danger of finishing last by several lengths. With Matt Garza and Edwin Jackson as their top two starters, another hundred loss season is likely.
The White Sox will once again not quite make the playoffs. I’m not a big fan of his, but I don’t understand why they let A.J. walk given their catching situation. Cleveland may well be in the mix with the Sox chasing the Tigers.

Can’t catch or throw anymore. Pitchers hated him. Offensive year was an outlier. $7.5 million from Rangers.

Summer and baseball. Can’t wait. It’s going to be very hard at the beginning for me to see the Sox play without AJ. He was unique and valuable to the team and fans on so many levels. And the mind games he played with opposing teams and their fans was a thing of beauty. I’m not as optimistic going into the 2013 season as I was last year. Such highs for most of that season followed by such a crushing disappointment at the end. But my White Sox will be better than the Cubs so there’s that.

maybe it was the bears crapping the bed but i’m so ready and looking froward to seeing if John Danks can come back healthy, Chris Sale repeat his success and if Peavy can stay healthy…although Detroit will continue to be tough and KC always scares me-I think the Sox can compete. I’ll hang up an listen for my answer

Looking for a huge year for the Cards’ Craig, and another race for a playoff spot–though perhaps they could get in a bit earlier than in the past couple of years? (I know, I’m spoiled). Still dream of Cards vs WS in the Series.
Can’t wait to be free of football. Some say baseball is boring, but a few seconds of violent action followed by everything collecting again for another meeting (huddle) just bores me. And to never hear the repetitious wisdom of Troy Aikman again …

As for the (real baseball) Cubs fans out there … well, that’s why God invented beer. My sympathies.

Sox seem like they want to contend. If that’s the plan, they need to get a left-handed bat. Jason Kubel is available, but they would have to give up on Viciedo and play Kubel in left field.
Could also swing a trade for Ben Zobrist…put him at second and move Beckham, who is destined to be a career utility infielder.
They’re trying to win and get younger at the same, that almost never works.

Jake Peavy was signed so the Sox are not throwing in the towel. However AJ accepted a 1-year contract elsewhere. That will be a loss. Handled the pitchers, hit well, intimidated umps and hitters in the box. Predict Sox sign a backup catcher who will become the starter by mid-season after a few months of Tyler Flowers batting 160.

Cubs finish 15+ games out. Sox have a couple of good streaks, but still finish barely above 500.

Cubs: 90 loss season, and another year of declining attendance.
Sox: .500. Fans disappointed.
Cardinals: Playoff bound yet again. Shelby Miller wins rookie of the year award.

I am a 3rd Generation Sox fan, and a die hard. I will still go to games and root for the Sox. I am worried about the catching position though.
