  1. Good job House of Reps!

(How often do you get to say that?)

  3. This is a heady newsday, with MMJ passing in the House, the Boston situation unfolding and the national vote on universal background checks for guns.

  4. 61-57. Kind of puts the lie to the deep blue state. Arizona and Alaska got there before Illinois.

Looking at that roll call, it’s another reminder of how much the state GOP has changed over the years.

  5. Wonder if after pushing the buttons some of them went…

Have you ever really looked at your voting hand?

But seriously good vote, disapointed in my new state rep, reminded why my old one was better.

  6. I think I’m gonna have a heart attack! Well whatdya know–Miracles actually do still happen occasionally in Illinois on a BIG scale. Absolutely teriffic news for those suffering who will benefit–as well as bring much-appreciated relief to their loved ones, who so often must suffeer emOtionally right there along side them. And based on one of Rich’s News item posts previously, it appears likely that in time Gov. Quinn is willing to sign it into Law if given that opportunity! Way to go you Previously-Fence Sitting Legislators–sometimes it’s FUN to jump off boldly into the right direction trusting your instincts, ey?!!!

  7. Speaking on behalf of the organization that has spent the last 6 years lobbying for this and organizing patients/doctors to make this happen, I am overjoyed right now. I want to thank each and every one of you who came to Springfield to talk to your legislators or emailed/called to urge them to support this. Our work isn’t done, but we just overcame our biggest obstacle.

    Thank you. Onward…

  8. Congratulations, Rep. Lang.

Now about that pension reform, bill backlog, recent massive spike in the unemployment rate…

  9. If anyone is watching the House debate on CCW, I think a few Reps might be suffering from anxiety or some other malady and might benefit from a good dose of Med Mar about now.

Tempers are flaring. Anything to help some of them relax would be good for all of us.

  10. Good for the GA. This bill will make a lot of illegal users that suffer legal again with enough precautions in the bill to be legitimate. It’s about time common sense and true compassion won the day.

  11. I haven’t followed this bill as much lately. What is the likelihood of it passing through the Senate and being signed by PQ?

  12. I am truly surprised by this and grateful to my Rep for voting for it.

Too bad it wasn’t full legalization of all uses for all adults, not just the sick, with not limits on quantities.

Can’t the President get cannabis off of schedule 1 of the controlled substance act by executive order?

Comment by Hans Sannity Wednesday, Apr 17, 13 @ 4:00 pm

  13. Yeah, whenever I suffer from kanipchens I always go for my Med Mar. I got a script from Dr McGillicuddy.

  14. DD, I’m sure you’ll appreciate a legal, milder alternative to debilitating, addictive and potentially lethal skull-poppers like morphine for your condition.

You really think these MS and chemo patients are running a scam, don’t you? You’d think they’d go for the hard stuff it was all about getting stoned. You can get weed anywhere.

Comment by wordslinger Wednesday, Apr 17, 13 @ 4:25 pm

  15. How about reciprocity with other states MMC’s so the ill can visit their families in Illinois and still have access to their “special medicine”?

Comment by chefjeff Wednesday, Apr 17, 13 @ 4:28 pm

  16. Hey, Dan, veaven forbid you ever find yourself in a situation where this bill would help you. You’re thinking of Dr. Feelgood, but that’s not marijuana, it’s heroin. And Dr. Feelgood isn’t a doctor.

But! You can get your fix from Dr. McGillicuddy right now, legally.

  17. ===“In my opinion, it’s not good to have laws on the books that are widely ignored,” Oberweis said.===

So, Senator Oberweis is going to Co-Sponsor in the IL Senate I guess?

Is that a “governmental” question, or is it a “political” opinion to a “Governmental” question?

  20. SO IL M, this bill is so restrictive ….. get serious.

Move out of state, or continue what you’ve been doing w/o the blessing of the State of IL

Comment by Hans Wednesday, Apr 17, 13 @ 5:45 pm

  21. I’m guessing Missouri will legalize before IL, if IL ever bothers.

    Cross the river.

Comment by Hans Wednesday, Apr 17, 13 @ 5:48 pm

  22. The conservative definition of compassion is punishing sick people who use a nonlethal plant that gives them relief — and arresting them for their own good!

it’s hard to believe that Crespo and Mussman are still considered targets, giving the landslide margins in their last election.

Comment by reformer Wednesday, Apr 17, 13 @ 5:51 pm

  23. Finally, the GA makes some sense. Most of the talking heads who besmirched marijuana certainly like their alcohol. Springfield is one wet town! Thankfully, the House has seen the light and showed some real compassion and understanding for sick people. Marijuana is virtually a harmless plant…aspirin is much more dangerous. The propaganda campaign against pot, started in the 1930s is insane and too many lives have been ruined by stupid petty drug busts. Illinois should legalize it for adults, but this state is too cowardly to vote for true common sense. At least the sick will get some relief. But, having the inept Dept. of Public Health decide this for people? And some are worried about national healthcare? Can’t wait to see what these clowns do to sick people.
