Speaker Madigan didn’t evauate the capital when the fire alarm went off…he’s standing outside room 114. Doesn’t seem concerned. ===

  2. Guess all the cigar smoke got too thick.
Now on July 8th let’s solve a problem 43 years in the making in 3 weeks.

  3. That was definitely a problem with a competitors fire system. The products produced by my employer would never do that :->

  4. Reps. Nekritz, Zalewski, Turner. There shall be no meaningful compromising from them.

  5. Other than the House Dem members, have they announced the remaining conferees?

  6. Thanks Amanda Vinicky. Biss is kind of a surprise choice by Cullerton if you ask me (and no one did).

  7. Looking at the list of appointees to the conference committee, I see at least 7 of 10 who have been extremely hostile to state employees in the past, including at least 1 of Cullerton’s. It is clear they will come up with something very, very close to Madigan’s Bill. The only question then will be whether they can get it through the Senate. I am hoping not.

  8. Andrew, don’t sweat the list of conferees. These folks are the backdrop for the dog and pony shows. The true negotiations is going to happen behind closed doors between Cullerton and Madigan.

My concern is what appears to be Cullerton’s waivering on 2404 and his principles of consideration so he can look like the great compromiser with Madigan. Yes, he compromised with the We are One Coalition, but it was consistent with the consideration concept he espoused from the beginning of the effort to shaft existing employees and retirees.

  9. Unless I’m mistaken, 8 of the 10 voted for Madigan’s SB 1. However, I read somewhere that Senator Raoul will be the Chair of the Committee. During various hearings he was a very strong advocate that Madigan’s SB 1 was unconstitutional. Should be interesting.
