* Yesterday, we talked a bit about about Republican state treasurer candidate Michael Scott Carter’s pledge to generate economic growth in “all 110 counties in Illinois.”
That would be eight more counties than Illinois actually has.
* The Question: What should we name our state’s “new” counties?
Obviously, snark is heavily encouraged.

The only logic action is to sell off the naming rights. ie Statefarm County, Allstate County, US Cellular County, Willis County. If we don’t get suitable offers right away, the others can be “Memorial County” until a suitable donor steps forward.

Good Government, Honest Elections, Balanced Budgets, Public Service, First-Class Public Schools, Comprehensive Health Care, and Tort Reform. If someone wants any of these things, we’ll be able to say, “Easy. Just go to that county.” Problem solved!

Actually, the Wisconsin counties of Walworth & Kenosha, along with the Indiana counties of Lake, Porter and LaPorte technically are Illinois counties. I assume there are a few more in SW Michigan so Carter is actually correct.

Willyswego County sounds better. Could tuck it in near Winnebago County and cause lots of confusion. But, you would show up frequently on the Doppler with tornadoes coming through…and per usual someone loses a trailer.

While we’re claiming territories, ideally AA County would be Champaign County, less the City of Urbana, plus the U of I properties and the courthouse and jail. Imagine the prestige of a “University of Illinois at Arthur Andersen” degree.
