*** UPDATED x1 *** State Rep. candidate lashes out at Sharia Law

Posted in:

* Richard Chapman is running to replace Rep. Tom Cross in the Illinois House. Chapman’s palm card shows a smiling face on one side

* On the other side, however, Chapman rants about the state borrowing from the Chinese and then unveils his four-point plan. Pay special attention to number four

I wasn’t aware that the imposition of Sharia Law was a big problem in Illinois.

Golly, I sure am glad we have “common sense” candidates like Mr. Chapman around to teach us.

*** UPDATE *** Mr. Chapman wrote a book called “2084-When God Blessed America Again.” From Amazon

2084-When God Blessed America Again is a gripping story of a man and a woman who grew up under the iron fist of Islamic law in the United States of Islam, formerly known as the United States of America.

By sheer force of will and population redistribution, the Islamic faith has now become the controlling force that dominates approximately 80 percent of the world’s populations.

James and Gwen, the two main characters, are raised in separate parts of the country. Each suffer through horrible family events brought on by the oppressive society, and each has sworn revenge! By totally separate circumstances, they find themselves in Alaska, one of the few areas of the globe that a person can live in “relative” freedom. They eventually find each other in the wilderness along with a group of people who also cherish the idea of freedom.

2084 is filled with intrigue, war, and romance. Not a book for the weak of heart!

I’m gonna rush right out and buy it.

  9. This is how you lose a voter.

Saturday, I was at Culver’s on 55, flipping through the latest Romeoville Bugle (or maybe it was the Joliet whatever-it-is), and I noticed a re-written press release that Mr. Chapman, the mayor of Shorewood, was running to replace Tom Cross.

“Hm,” sez I. “Shorewood’s in pretty good shape. And I’ll probably pull the GOP primary ballot. Maybe I’ll vote for this guy.”

    Then I see this.

    Pass.

  12. Sharia Law is overtaking our country. Who knew.

How can he go from legitimate points in 1, 2 and 3 and then go totally off the deep end in number 4? He only makes himself look like a total loon.

Comment by Demoralized Tuesday, Oct 8, 13 @ 2:32 pm

  13. a law passed about ten years ago that food labeled for Muslims had to be appropriately prepared - a direct parallel statute to the kosher food labeling law for observant Jews. That Muslim standard is set out in sharia law.

  30. He may not be right about Sharia, but darn sure he’s right about foreign law being applicable in our courts.

For way too long, American courts have felt obligated to follow “the common law of England.” Frankly, that’s been the case for over 200 years!

Yet the Tea Partiers never say a word!

The law of a foreign country! In the United States of America!

You would think they would be outraged.

I, for one, am tired of some English people telling good Americans what to do!

Who is with me? Let’s stand up to these foreigners controlling our courts!

    Sorry…

    Yes, we have Democrats.

Kendall County itself has Linda Holmes and Stephanie Kifowin in the county and I am sure tom’s district has Democrats, but the drawn district would be tough for a Dem … unless their yard signs are also in Arabic, but I digress …

Comment by Publius Tuesday, Oct 8, 13 @ 3:33 pm

  48. It’s worth noting that Mr. Chapman is not the only announced candidate for this seat. Mark Batinick is also running. He was the GOP nominee for Will County Assessor last fall. He lost, which is undoubtedly a strike against him, but he outperformed the rest of the county GOP ticket against an incumbent in strongly Dem year, coming up only about 10k votes short out of over 250k cast.

You can imagine where capital comes from for business start ups, etc. Unless your relative loans you the money with no interest there is little movement of capital.

Comment by dupage dan Tuesday, Oct 8, 13 @ 3:59 pm

Comment by Six Degrees of Separation Tuesday, Oct 8, 13 @ 11:01 pm

  98. You’d think this insidious Muslim plot to impose Sharia law on the United States would rank higher than #4 on the priority list.

There’s a fever upon the land.

I think over the last 12 years or so some have been shaken so severely by 9/11, rising income disparity, two confusing wars, a devastating, lingering economic crash, loss of home equity and the black dude getting elected twice that they’ve lost their moorings.

Way past time to get over all of it and get real. The idea that we have it tougher than those came before us is vain and weak. Sober up, get your big brains working, employ some common sense and we’ll do better than muddle through, we’ll thrive.

  101. == Please explain your comment: Having spent time in Oswego I can tell you that is the #4 issue facing the area….

Have not a clue as to what you mean. ==

Trying to be funny and failing apparently (it is not an issue there)

  102. @Wordslinger -

Where there’s a will, there is a way.

After the public came to largely accept that segregation was a bad idea, conservatives withdrew from the battlelines and established a new perimeter to combat “racial quotas” and “welfare queens.”

Now that America has largely rejected the notion of internment camps for Muslim Americans, conservatives have withdrawn and are rallying the troops around Sharia Law.

The Constitution - like the Bible, Koran or Darwin - can be used as a faulty premise by any Wing Nut with an ideology they’d like to impose.

That said, don’t count this one out. Stranger things have happened in primaries.

PS: I feel like I ought to send Leader Durkin a card. With Cross running statewide, turnout is likely to be huge in this race, and the primary could easily cost Durkin $50K or more that he just does not have.

  103. Take heart—There is a young man on the Republican ticket running for state representative in the 97th by the name of Mark Batinick. He is intelligent, uses common sense, and will not beholden to anyone should he be elected. Mark Batinick will represent those characteristics in an elected official that all Illinois voters would like to see exhibited. There is noting “nutty” about Mark except that he is willing to subject himself to the grueling campaign and election process in order to improve Illinois state government for the rest of us. He won’t embarass us. He is a businessman who is a fiscal conservative as well as a compassionate social conservative. Nothing radical but just exercises good sound judgement. He is also a big believer in representing “all of the people” rather than just a few special interest groups..
