* Today is the last day to file nominating petitions. As of 11:13 am, the State Board of Elections’ website shows no petitions from Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon, who is hoping to run for comptroller.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute.

Sheesh.

* How about a caption contest while the clock ticks down?…

They told me inside that my petitions have to be filed at the State Board of Elections offices. A nice lady inside named Judy told me it is in Champaign…so I am off.

Say what you will, Sheila Simon’s appointment to the Democratic ballot may have saved Quinn in 2010. With Scott Lee Cohen as his running mate, Governor Bill Brady would be running for reelection and defending his veto of the SSM bill.

anon 12:29, Cohen obviously resigned before Quinn selected Simon. He choose Simon because he thought she would help him downstate but instead she was a drag on the ticket…no voter support, no fundraising and no charisma. It is hard to imagine who he could have put on as LG that would have been less helpful than Simon. So, your argument that it was SLC or Simon is pretty out a total distortion of the facts.

Asking, and with respect, do you think either party is apt to “slate” a candidate, who already has run and won statewide, with a pedigree of a true Illinois statesman, and then in turn can’t make up their mind on an office … and then expects that party to “slate” them because getting petiions was … “just too hard” to do?

I would not like to have to make that decision, if it were mine to make!

She can file with one single signature, it only becomes an issue, I believe once a “challange” is brought about the petitons and their validity.

Only a challenge puts the petitons at risk, I believe.

Oswego’s posts hit a bit too close to home.
He perfectly captures her incredible lack of knowledge and ability when it comes to all things political.

Comparing Oswego’s Plummer posts to his Simon posts, we need to remember that Plummer at least has an excuse. He’s actually an uneducated kid. Simon allegedly has a J.D. from a top school. What’s her excuse for being so incredibly incompetent when it comes to all things political?
