*** UPDATE 1 *** Here’s the video version…

*** UPDATE 2 *** Script…

More pay for them, higher taxes for you.

That’s what career politicians do.

Career politicians like Bill Brady, Dan Rutherford and Kirk Dillard.

Together, they’ve spent over 60 years in Springfield.

They’ve voted to increase their own pay, and supported millions in porkbarrel spending.

And to pay for it all, they stuck Illinois families with higher taxes

Call career politicians Brady, Rutherford and Dillard. Tell them we can’t afford higher taxes and wasteful spending.

*** UPDATE 3 *** My mom says the TV ad is playing in the Quad Cities.

[ *** End Of Updates *** ]

* A reader sent this in earlier today…

Sorry for short hand. In a rush today.

Just heard radio ad on WTAX at 754 this morn. Repeated other 3 candidates names several time calling the career politicians, pork barrel, raising taxes to pay for their excess - all the red meat empty rhetoric dog whistle. Encouraged listener to call all 3 & gives numbers.

Does not mention rauner, & says paid for by Mid America Fund. Another Ohio situation?

Also - does not mention governor race at all. Just those three calling them tax raising pork barrel etc etc etc & encourages you to call each one of the 3 and gives numbers.

* I haven’t been able to find a copy of the ad yet. Kinda got distracted by the Rutherford stuff. But I’m looking around. The committee is not yet registered with the Illinois State Board of Elections as far as I can tell.

In the meantime, ironically enough, it turns out that the not-for-profit Mid America Fund appears to have been created on January 13th by an Ohio-based registered agent

Roberta J. Mertz
44904 Kacsmar Estates Dr
St. Clairsville, OH 43950

In case you’re wondering, the SuperPac that went after Aaron Schock last year was based in Ohio. Schock claimed that Bruce Rauner was behind that attack. Rauner has denied it.

* I’m also told the buy was done by NewDay Media Services out of Atlanta, GA.

I’ll keep searching for the audio.

  1. The floodgates have opened. This primary just went from 0-60 in a matter of hours. Media outlets across the state, rejoice.

  2. It is just what I have said all along, sadly. Rauner will go utterly negative, through third parties.

  3. What the ad fails to mention is that Rauner’s pay is way more than the other 3 combined.

“More pay for them, higher taxes for you.

  4. ===Rauner will go utterly negative, through third parties===

Please, like the other three have been choirboys waiting for 3rd parties like the DGA, Unions and Aaron Schock to do their dirty work. Drip Drip Drip as one of the 3 like to say

  5. A response:
    +++++

More pay for him, higher costs for you.

    That’s what corporate raiders do.

    Millionaires like Bruce Rauner.

Last year he put over $50 million dollars in his pocket.

He used his connections to the Democrats running Chicago to clout his daughter into an exclusive public high school.

And to pay for it all, he took profits from public employee pensions and ran nursing homes into bankruptcy while elderly residents suffered and died.

Call corporate raider Bruce Rauner. Tell him we can’t afford to line his pockets with our tax dollars.

    +++++

    Still waiting…

  13. Pot calling kettle,

You are on the right track. There is also the story about employees being ripped off by being misclassified as individual contractors. The company in violation agreed to pay $3.75 million for a settlement fund.

  14. === Please, like the other three have been choirboys waiting for 3rd parties like the DGA, Unions and Aaron Schock to do their dirty work. Drip Drip Drip as one of the 3 like to say ===

    1. Nobody has gone up with a negative ad on the Baron.

    2. If and when they do, we know where they are coming from and they are not coming coordinated by one of the other 3’s campaigns.

    3. The Baron has the money to pay for his own ads. Of the other 3, Rutherford is the only one with enough money to do a significant ad buy.

    4. This is clearly an example of how the Baron operates. Remind anyone of Blago?

Comment by Norseman Friday, Jan 31, 14 @ 1:29 pm

  15. The ad was on Springfield television this morning. One of the footnotes references the Chicago Tribune and a George Ryan press release. I should have recorded it. I had to rewind to see if it actually cited a Ryan press release as a source, and it did, not once but twice.

    Force of habit I suspect.

  19. The theme covered echoes exACTly the kinds of things Rauner has been spouting on about recently to pound away at his three opponents…if it sounds like, looks like a duck…etc.: Quack quack Brucie and Friends…!

  20. There was a time when it was the GOP vs. the Dems. It now seems it is the 1% and the Tea Party vs. the rest.

  21. ===Geez, with all his dough, why does he have to operate on the sneek?===

He wants to keep the mud off of that nice brown “work” jacket. Finds a lawyer friend to dish dirt on Rutherford, some out of state supporters to put out these ads. But Bruce, he’s clean, he’s not a politician like those other guys.

Comment by Pot calling kettle Friday, Jan 31, 14 @ 2:39 pm

  22. Child games: it isn’t even ironic. It is consistent with Rauner & Emanuel. Maybe it isn’t Rauner’s goal to destroy what’s left of the Illinois GOP, but that is the net effect.
