  8. “Bruce! The dog … it’s fine. Just look here. It’s a picture, if you want, we can add other stuffed animals to make it look liked you hunt, but seriously, the dog is fine, just smile …”

“Fine. ‘Props’, can you do something with the ears, Bruce thinks raising the ears a little makes the dog look…like a ‘hunter-er’ or something …so lift the ears please …”

“Bruce, (sigh) … the only stuffed animals that will fit into the stuff dog’s mouth are the weasel, a cartoonish rabbit, a golf club head cover we found of a Gofer with the initials ‘T’ and ‘C’ stitched on the back… and… a Meerkat that is missing an eye …No, you think about it Bruce, we have time…”

“Mr. Rauner, sir, we have all been patient. The dog looks fine. We are not going to …’paint’ the dog black for a black Lab … we know its stuffed, but its just a prop … how about we take a couple with the dog, yes, with the ears up, nothing in the mouth and keep the dog this color … humor us…”

“Please, Mr. Rauner … it’s stuffed … we can’t make it ’sit’ …the dog is stuffed standing. Yes, …I can see that point …yes, a sitting dog shows like you are the ‘Master’ or whatever you said … but THIS dog …is stuffed …standing …”

“Mister. Rauner. We can NOT … have a deer standing next to you… and the dog. Sir, …why… why would a deer be standing with you and ‘your dog’? This isn’t ‘Animal Kingdom’, ok, the only deer we have in the semi is a ’standing deer’ …No! That makes no sense to have the deer standing with you and the dog …you have ‘hunted’, right?…”

“Ok, I think we are ready …Mr. Rauner, stand there, next TO the dog, with the ears up, and you can hold ‘Rodent 615′ from the truck, … yep … just like that … put the shades… yes, on your face, not on the brim of the hat … great … yes! Right foot forward, look natural …No, do not look at the dog, look here sir … the dog is fine … hold the prop up higher, like you are proud you got it … yes … look here … the dog is not going to fall over, its anchored … no, Bruce, the dog looks steady, look here please … no, hold the Rodent higher like ‘Lookey-Lookey’ … tilt the hat just a bit back … I know we can’t SEE your eyes, but we want to see your face … Fix Mr. Rauner’s hat … ok… perfect … Bruce, seriously, look HERE … if you move your head, the hat will move … The. Dog. Does. Not. Need. A. Bandana! Bruce, I am going to take away the dog … I know you want the stuffed dog in the picture …. yes, even though its standing and not sitting, I get it … but the bandana might be too much …(pause) …Yes…Yes, I know you are paying for this … ‘Can somepone find me a bandana for the prop dog?’ … Seriously? ‘Do we have a “red” bandana for the dog?’ … only a black one Bruce … That’s ok? … Now! Now, we have the bandana on the stuffed dog, the sunglasses on, the right foot forward, you are smiling … yes, yes the Rodent in your hand … let’s make some magic …”

  24. Is it true that Rauner switched his official residence from Chicago back to Winnetka to avoid paying the $5 dog license fee in Chicago? Yet another example of high taxes and fees forcing people to flee Chicago.

Comment by Don't Worry, Be Happy Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 1:24 pm

  36. Probable a Purdey & Sons shotgun. Dog no doubt is pedigree. Bet the shotgun and dog are worth more than any 10 acres where that photo was taken.

Comment by Cook County Commoner Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 3:34 pm

  37. Don’t think most Lake Shore liberal Dems would make very good zombies, unless zombies like veggies and white whine!

Comment by Arizona Bob Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 3:42 pm

  38. Is that Chip or Dale that Bruce just shot with a shotgun?? Imagine what he could do with an assault rifle - maybe a squirrel??

  40. Brady: “Okay, okay…I just had her name right on the tip of my tongue…Damnit, put your name tag back on. And by the way, once we’re elected, like most Governors I’ll forget your name then, too. So don’t feel bad.”

  41. LOL, Gabe.

Comment by Aldyth Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 3:51 pm

  42. I don’t see the association with zombies as a negative connotation. Zombies tend to be highly coordinated in their attacks and always stay in line (as you can see in the picture). If only the unions carried out their attacks like the zombies, they might have defeated Rauner.

    “Prestige Worldwide… Investors? Maybe you!”

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 5:37 pm

  44. If Mark Batinick is the “weak link” in the Republican Party’s chain, then I predict a Republican landslide in November. I am “not” from Batinick’s district but my impression of this young guy is extremely positive. I have found him to be a hard worker, extremely bright, and a fiscally conservative Republican. I will be very surprised if he does not get elected after the votes are totaled tomorrow night. I wish he lived in my district so I could cast my vote for him. If he is fortunate enough (or, unfortunate enough may be stating it more realistically) to go to Springfield later, I see this young man eventually becoming one of the Illinois GOP leaders and most respected members down in Springfield.

  45. Bruce Rauner: This month’s J. Peterman “Ramar of the Jungle” outfit is tailored to compliment everyman’s fantasy. Made from soft Australian wool with a Hemingway-esque “Snows of Kilimanjaro” broad-brimmed hat this outfit will take your breath away. Only $399.99 in any size with free shipping thrown in if ordered before March 18th. Double-barreled 20-gauge shotgun is optional for an additional $1299.00. Be the man “in your jungle”.

    Comment by Frosty-The Snowman Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 5:52 pm

  46. Pretty sad that a candidate for state office has to rely on the endorsement of a former sports personality and current TV sports commentator with a marked inability to stay awake on camera.

Comment by DuPage Dave Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 8:34 pm

  47. C’mon, DD, Ditka is an eccentric, but he’s still a Bears legend. And the Bears are the only thing that anyone in Chicago metro can agree about, except for the Cheesehead apostates among us.

Plus, his restaurants will hit your hungry spot. His head chef used to live in my neighborhood and threw a swinging party every 4th of July. Trays and trays of food from Ditkas. Best party of the year.

Comment by wordslinger Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 8:58 pm

  48. DD, you a Packers fan? With all the $&@/!#% robocalls going you at least gotta give Sandack props for being creative.

Comment by Big Muddy Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 9:13 pm

  49. Erika Harold has been using a Ditka endorsement for the last week how is Sandack being creative? Now if he were to get an endorsement from Larry Dominick, Proft’s old boss, THAT would be creative!

Comment by DuPage Bard Monday, Mar 17, 14 @ 10:42 pm

  50. Aren’t hunters supposed to wear blaze orange in the field when hunting rabbits, or birds? Make me think it’s just a fake picture.

  51. Re: 81st district
The Score - 670am sports talk radio has had pro Sandack ads running pretty consistently since Saturday. Must have been a huge buy from House GOP
