Rauner wasted a lot of people’s time with a scam petition he knew wasn’t going to make the ballot all along but it achieved its real goal of giving him something to distract republican primary voters with, sad.

It’s hard to take you seriously when you choose to attack a Supreme Court justice based on who she is married to rather than the legal decisions that she makes.

Term Limited?
We hear in the very near future the Illinois Supreme Court is going to rule on allowing the Term Limits petition challenge to be heard directly by the Illinois Supreme…
Upshot - the question of this amendment being on the ballot is up in the air.
Downshot - sending it to the Appellate Court might stall the amendment from making the November ballot for voters.
Buckshot - Mega-Bucks Bruce Rauner and his allies financed this for allota bucks, and they may not see it put in front of the voters.
Me thinks the list of names collected might be worth more to Rauner than any vote on Term Limits this November.

I’m guessing “Princess Lisa’s” handle is referencing that enlightened nickname that big-time-talent John Kass put on Lisa Madigan. Because she’s a woman. And her Dad rules the world, or something.
So “Princess Lisa” could actually be male or female, but thinks JOhn Kass is a thoughtful and accomplished writer.
Draw your own conclusions.

I would take that as the signal they don’t intend to overturn the precedent that led to Mikva’s decision. Rauner can run to the appellate court, but they aren’t going to overturn a well reasoned opinion based on supreme court precedent after the supreme court said they didn’t want the case. Looks like Madigan’s legal team wins again. It’s over, Bruce. Move on.
As for the snide comments about Burke - she is the only one who had courage to dissent in the Kanerva case and give pension reform a chance. She doesn’t deserve your criticism, let alone your sexist attitude.

HUGE, embarrassing Setback for Rauner. He and his attorneys need to take better note of this thing which Attorneys refer to a the “Rule of Law.” Case Precedent. The Illinois Supreme Court basically ruled on this issue many years ago–they meant it then, and they mean it now. Pat Quinn, who FIRST championed the cause 20 YEARS AGO, once again, by the way, Bruce, figured that one out the hard way THEN…!
But Rauner was too stubborn and proud apparently to figure that out, figured just because he thinks he could make political hay out of term limits NOW, ‘cuz we have to “shake up” we know where, and apparently is used to getting whatEVer his little heart desires. I suppose that’s how a LOT of that “.01%” of Society, i.e. Multi-Billionaires look at life (obviously, the 99.99% of the REST of us wouldn’t understand that)…!
Well, I hope Rauner has finally gotten the Message NOW from Illinois’ 3rd/Independent and Equally Powerful Branch of Government: NO GO on Term Limits in Illinois the way you (Rauner) wanted to go about it, dude. Mick said it first, Brucie: “You can’t always git what you want…!” GOT it now? Once and for all?
Guess he’s not so successful in EVERYthing he has set out to do in Life apparently after ALL, to borrow Brucie’s own words, eh…?

DuPage Dave and others…was it hard to take George W. Bush seriously because of George H.W. Bush? What about Jeb? And Mayor Rich Daley because of the Boss? Did you find it hard to take Bill Daley seriously? And what about Dan Hynes, son of Tom Hynes? Don’t remember much outcry in any of these situations…hmmm….

The decision doesn’t matter. Those were GOP and Dem voters out in the suburbs that signed that petition. Rauner just got a lot of names of Dems outside Cook that he knows are tired of Springfield.

I mean, c’mon, if there is one thing Democrats and republicans have in common, it is that we all hate career politicians…from the other party.
Does any Republican HONESTLY believe Bruce Rauner would keep his pledge to serve only one term? Ha. The campaign for 2018 starts in like, 30 months.

The will of the people sometimes differs from the rule of law. Two different conversations.
To your point - I wouldn’t presume that a huge majority is in term limits. There are supporters for sure but I think there are many on both sides of the issue.

This is most easily predicted by the political nature of our courts. The Democrats on the court may not want citizen backlash if they affirm the circuit court decision. And they surely do not want this proposal to pass. Don’t forget that even our highest court gets elected in a very partisan and expensive election.

I guess that’s why they handled the insurance issues a few weeks ago as they did, 6-1.
Pretty pathetic attempt to make things seem partisan, when the ILSC seems to be the only branch, at times, that has the Illinois Constitution in mind when acting.
If it makes you sleep better, then make things partisan where it’s not.

OW - personally I’ve never thought term limits is a partisan thing - oh, it tends to be brought up more by the Republicans, but when the microphones are turned off I’m sure many of them were happy to see this ballot initiative die, just like many Congressmen prefer divided government to having their party in complete control given that the only time incumbants get taken out in large number tend to be “backlash” elections (1980, 1994, 2006)
