I hope they generate more excitement than past protests. It has been a little tough for them since most people have learned that there is little to fear from fracking.
They mean well.

Took me a sec to figure out it’s supposed to be Quinn. But then I remembered Rauner’s staunch anti-fracking stance and it made sense. /snark

Chi- I know you are being snarky but this what WMBD had from their interview with Rauner before the primary–
Rauner supports fracking, calling it a potential “economic boom” that needs to be capitalized on.
So, are the protestors going to visit him as well?

I too thought this was Premier Week at Sundance. Gotta read the caption first. There’s mad and then there’s fracking mad. Hope there’s a vegan booth down there somewhere.

Pass pension reform, get anger. Do fracking, get anger. Legalize SSM and MMJ, and some people are very upset.
Quinn can’t win for losing. I say this not to be sorry for him, but that’s the life of a politician. If we don’t want that job, we shouldn’t run for it.
At the same time, though, we need to do some self-examination to see what we the non-politicians really want.

A couple of observations to go along with the photo. There were over 100 grassroots and clergy activists in the protest. Quinn was in the lobby at the time, listen carefully to the SJ-R on-line interview, you can hear the chanting in the background. He didn’t think it worthwhile to come over to engage the protesters, the vast majority his traditional allies. Analysis: Evidently the Gov has made the calculation being a neo-liberal on fracking is the best play (allied with the Chamber and big labor), but has left a lot of downstate grassroots environmentalists scratching their heads. There’s not much interest in downstate in fast food/motel jobs for out-of-state fracking workers verses their neighborhoods becoming extraction zones. “Pro-environmental” Quinn taking the wrong side on fracking has already hurt his downstate progressive base, he should call Cuomo for some insight.
