There are few things more terrifying than an elderly person alone and defenseless in a nursing home, being victimized by abuse.
An investigation into Bruce Rauner’s nursing home business uncovered staff cutbacks to maximize profits.
Juries found that helpless seniors had died of neglect and abuse.
And all Rauner could say was, “That’s what happens occasionally in nursing homes.”
Really?
That’s what happens?
Oh, man. It’s on.

How soon until the Rayner camp runs similar ads blaming Quinn for deaths at the Illinois veterans homes? The settlements are out there in the public records.

Buck I, they already tried blaming Quinn for the deaths of any kid that had contact with DCFS.

OW, can’t refute the ad since I don’t work for the campaign. But the ad must give the Rauner people ideas for their own ads. IDVA runs 5 veterans homes and folks die every week,and quite a few families sue and the AGs office defends. Its a matter of public record and the Rauner camp has money to make TV spots.

This ad is a blockbuster.
Caught my immediate attention and sympathy even before I realized it was an anti-Rauner ad. Literally had my spouse out of her chair yelling at the TV.

“But Quinn did it too” doesn’t work, since the quote is so Bruce Rauner, and so verifiable.
What are you trying to say? Quinn said the same thing is Rauner?

The same could be said of developmental centers that Quinn closed/are closing where people were moved out and died/or were moved back because they were in peril.

The key word is “could” — Pat Quinn could have said something heartless about the suffering of those people, but he didn’t.
Bruce Rauner did.

I think the ad is very strong and rate it an A. Rauner’s statement in the ad is what really gives it a kick.

Solid A. The Rauner statement, matter-of-factly says all I need to know about Rauner’s attitude towards elderly people dying as a result of him making more money. Despicable.

I don’t blame Rauner for the deaths in the nursing homes. But, his reaction was cold.

This ad is a pass. It belabors a theme that has lost some shock appeal, but this one still tugs. One thing that has been missing from all of these ad types is a single family member providing a testimonial. I wish we weren’t talking about Senior homes at all or foster homes for that matter. To say there are extenuating circumstances in both cases is a huge, huge understatement. There are some bad cases, but the people who do this kind of work are primarily angels on Earth.

I would not be surprised that Rauner and his nursing home operation received big bucks from Medicaid.
Rauner is usually against welfare programs unless they line his pocket and probably has received more state funds than any public employee. Somehow the obvious hypocrisy of this never receives media attention.
Just like his firm making money off teacher retirement funds.
Yes, I know Quinn has issues also and I am very disappointed that these are the people running and that one of them will get elected.

People live much longer than they did a few decades ago.
Part of the reason this commercial is so intensely personal for many is that more than any time, we are more likely to experience with our family living in a nursing home.
This AM, I saw the anti-Rauner commercial followed by one the lawyers that sues the nursing homes–talk about perfect ad placement!

I just heard a Quinn commercial on the radio, talking specifically about individuals who died as a result of nursing home neglect. It mentions the patient who fell down the flight of stairs and died, and another patient who fell down 18 times. It also says that executives took lavish bonuses.
It’s more devastating than the TV commercial here, in my opinion. Will something like this come out on TV? I thought the TV nursing home commercial would have been something like the radio commercial, as opposed to what it currently is.

If that was true regarding the ad and Rauner’s nursing home, than shame on Quinn and the Illinois Department of Public Health. I have been in the nursing home industry for quite a few years and I can tell you honestly they all have minimal staff for their own greed. Second of all, I think all the blame should be on Quinn because all the owners have to do is write a check and they are cleared. Corrupt Illinois at it’s best

Don’t let this ad fool you. IDPH has the power to fine them, close them, do whatever they want. If his nursing home was that bad why is it still open? Quinn does absolutely nothing for the elderly in our state. If he cared, IDPH would not be so easy to pay off. Quinn is their boss and he does nothing. That is unacceptable

People due die in nursing homes, it’s a mater of fact. As someone who had a mother in one, I wonder if the people who are complaining have ever had the experience. You cannot blame one person for all the problems. I went everyday and checked on my mom. If I had seen any problems, I would have moved her to another facility. The new commercial blaming Rauner for the death of his wife, I wonder why if he thought the facility was so horrible, why didn’t he move his wife????
