Oberweis now for gay marriage

Posted in:

* Has anyone done a wellness check on Dick Uihlein tonight?…

Oberweis would support a federal law for same-sex marriage, but would prefer it by states. http://t.co/0qdVPVdCzY

  2. Pigs are flying…

And if anyone questions whether conservatives can win statewide in IL, apparently Oberweis has concluded they can’t. Wow.

  3. Dick Uihlein does what he is told. That’s what happens when you inherit your money. You don’t think for yourself. His office supply salesman John Tillman tells him what to think. It’s not like he has morals or principles or anything - not when Tillman & Co play games with their tax status and then there’s that town of Cicero.

  4. I thought planks mattered

    I thought planks meant something

I thought the platform is how we judge Republicans.

I thought that Chairman Brady was not a worthy Republican Chair because of SSM.

I thought people need to rally against Republicans advocating SSM.

I thought I was a bad Republican, according to Jim Onerweis.

I thought former President GHW Bush was a bad Republican for “witnessing” a SSM.

What happened my ole Slytherin pal?

    What happened to Purity?

What happened to “Only, must, never, always”?

    What happened to litmus tests?

    What happened to blood oaths?

What happened to you, Jim Oberweis?

Why do you decide what makes a Republican, when you will say anything and anything to clean the STAIN of your o so recent past?

Go live in Florida, get your condo tax break.

Leave My Party alone, your Purity has a stain, no words are going to help that.

Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 8:31 pm

  5. So does this mean the purists will primary him for his state senate seat in 2016?

Comment by Anonymous Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 8:40 pm

  6. Exactly OW: When there is money sniffing to do “tea party” conservatives, Uihlein, Oberweis, come a’runnin and it doesn’t matter what the damn plank is. Total hypocrites. The one good thing - and there is only one good thing about Rauner is that his candidacy has shown these people don’t really have any supposed principles. Oberweis sure didn’t.

  7. I hope Obie retires to Florida with the Mrs. after the thumping he is going to get from Durbin.
He even flubbed his canned remarks.

Durbin laid him out on several issues, including his residency status-”You are the first Florida resident in history to run for the U.S. Senate from Illinois.”

Comment by Arthur Andersen Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 8:48 pm

  8. He ran a remarkably good campaign and this is a signal he intends to run statewide again.

Comment by VanillaMan Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 8:53 pm

  9. AA- do you think he loses his State Senate seat if he loses the Federal election???

Comment by Apple Picker Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 8:55 pm

  10. ===He ran a remarkably good campaign and this is a signal he intends to run statewide again.===

    Let him run.

The Stain that is the Jim Oberweis record is easy to roll out.

  11. In the end times good will be called evil and evil will be called good.

  12. ===AA- do you think he loses his State Senate seat if he loses the Federal election???===

    No, I don’t think -AA - meant that, I will say I agree with the sentiment;

Maybe state Senator Oberweis needs to think about relaxing in the Florida sun, he deserves it.

I mean, having to face colleagues now, 12 days from Election Day and all his yapping, and judging, and blathering, and attempting to run the ILGOP Chairman out in a rail…

…to be on that State Senate floor…the walking Slytherin Hypocrite?

    Florida looks mighty swell.

Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 9:14 pm

  13. Is Oberweis aware that they have politics in FL too? Maybe it’s time to try a new location where everyone doesn’t know him so well?

Comment by Belle Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 9:29 pm

  14. VanillaMan, I agree this is a signal. It’s a white flag of political surrender. He’s done forever after this.

    Comment by 47th Ward Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 9:30 pm

  15. I guess Obie noticed that spending a lot of money while being totally undisciplined, spineless, and a jerk gets you tied in the polls….

Comment by Ducky LaMoore Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 9:35 pm

  16. After Oberweiss loses in Illinois, he can try again in Florida. He wouldn’t be the first Illinois citizen to try running for Senator from multiple states.

  17. Good on Obie. Doesn’t matter how you get there. I was indifferent myself for far too long.

Comment by Wordslinger Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 9:41 pm

  18. I just heard Allen Keyes is on his way to Illinois!

Comment by Greg Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 10:08 pm

  19. Rauner might just be helping the GOP split at the seams, so as to build a bigger and better tent.

Win or lose, give him credit if he can help with that.

Comment by walker Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 10:33 pm

  20. Durbin laid him out on several issues, including his residency status-”You are the first Florida resident in history to run for the U.S. Senate from Illinois

Well…there was Andy Martin and a Guy from Maryland

  21. Waiting for Waukegan to become campaign issue. A teacher strike is one thing, but since oct 2nd?? seriously? and the statements both sides are releasing to the media are childish in the extreme and would be funny but for the 17,000 kids, who are already growing up in a backwater, not being in school for dang near a month. Will somebody grow up, up there? my word.

Comment by kimaye Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 10:39 pm

  22. John, if you’ll recall your Old Testament, Isiah was talking there abut how mad God was at the people of Jerusalem and Judah and the “end times” were going to be he was going to sic the Assyrian army on them if they didn’t straighten up and fly right.

King Hezekiah got the message and he was rewarded when the Assyrian army was destroyed in one night.

Comment by Wordslinger Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 10:45 pm

  23. At this rate he will be for comprehensive amnesty reform.

If this report is 100% accurate, he looks very, very desperate. Not only that he will drive away support from his base.

Comment by Federalist Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 11:02 pm

  24. Is Oberweis going to get a minister’s credentials off the internet? Will he be performing gay weddings at some of his finer Dairy product emporiums?

He has now become a “pander bear”.

One day he’s a right wing social conservative. The next day he’s all about love and acceptance.

    It’s a miracle!

As a congenital democrat with a bad moon rising I hope this guy keeps running and running and running.

Comment by IrishPirate Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 11:03 pm

  25. don’t worry, everyone on the R sidewill get back in some weird universe of Republicans….the top story on Drudge is about the ballot issues in Schaumburg. Cue Fox News.

Comment by Amalia Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 11:13 pm

  26. I see him as a good fit for the current US House. He’s better than some of the other new candidates. He just keeps aiming a little high. He also has backed off some of his more extreme positions, seemingly not just for pure politics.

    He’s not quite done.

Comment by walker Wednesday, Oct 22, 14 @ 11:15 pm

  27. I am a die hard supporter of Durbin and thought he did great tonight. Obie showed he is still not ready for prime time. BUT, channel 7 was awful. It was a disgrace how partisan they were with their questions and follow ups. Even if Obie were up to it, the panel interrupted him more, slanted the questions asked and it seems to give him less time.
Not sure who the sponsors were, so I may be off base, but having a panel of 2 blacks and 1 hispanic didn’t seem fair to the GOP candidate.
As I said, I’m a Durbin supporter (and he would win the debate anyway) but this just gives the tin hat nut jobs more fuel to spout off.

  28. Egads, next thing we know Obie will be hosting SSM ceremonies at his ice cream shops.

Comment by Norseman Thursday, Oct 23, 14 @ 12:00 am

  29. At this rate his next move will be to declare himself a Democrat followed by the party abandoning him arguing that he’s just too liberal.

  31. Rauner hired bots to take the site offline? Or maybe Blago has put his time in prison to good use, and learned coding?
