I don’t think that word means what you think it means

IDOT, ISP, Tollway, Industry Partners Urge Caution in Work Zones
Event Kicks Off Work Zone Awareness Week

CHICAGO –The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois State Police (ISP), Illinois Tollway, and labor representatives are teaming up to promote safe driving in work zones as part of National Work Zone Awareness week, which runs March 23-27. This joint effort is aimed at reducing the number of work zone crashes and saving lives on Illinois roads.

WHO: Tony Quigley, District 1 Project Implementation Engineer highways - IDOT
Lt. David Byrd – ISP
Mike Stone, Chief of Staff – Illinois Tollway
Mike Sturino, President – Illinois Road and Transportation Builders

WHAT: Safety message for motorists on the importance of driving safely in work zones.

I know Mike Sturino. I like Mike Sturino. I’ve even spoken to Mike’s fine group.

But Mike Sturino is in no way a “labor representative.” And if this administration thinks he is, then we have more craziness ahead than we can ever know.

I mean, seriously, was that from the Onion?

  2. Isn’t he an “Industry Partner?”
Not sure why this tweaks you so hard.

  3. In fairness, Mike Sturino is more of a “labor representative” than Erica Jeffries is a “UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter”

Comment by AC Monday, Mar 23, 15 @ 3:34 pm

  4. In Rauner’s world, management “represents” labor because they hired labor and that labor is lucky to have a job without the “job creator” management type.

  5. Yea, Rich. A Guy may be on to something. Why should misrepresentation bother you so much. What do you expect from your elected officials, THE TRUTH. C’MON MAN!

Clearly on Planet BVR you are either investor/owner or laborer/labor representative

  11. Guy,maybe you need a new caregiver to read to you and explain what the words mean. You struggle with the lingo.

Comment by Wordslinger Monday, Mar 23, 15 @ 4:59 pm

  12. This is a farce.

If you have to make up titles and interpretations of what people actually do, it’s no wonder facts elude these guys.

    So, no math, no vocabulary,…

How’s the Rauner Crew doing in Art and Gym…or Lunch?

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, Mar 23, 15 @ 5:19 pm

  13. By the way and speaking of the Tollway, why is Quinn’s patronage choice for Tollway CEO still at the Tollway?

Comment by Not it Monday, Mar 23, 15 @ 5:25 pm

  14. How soon will it be before the Ministry (or Department) of Truth publishes an online dictionary that will aid in understanding Rauner’s “Newspeak”? Regardless of the source, it’s going to require some sort of reference material just to understand communications from this administration.

Comment by AC Monday, Mar 23, 15 @ 5:30 pm

  15. “not it” good question !! why are any of Quinn’s cronies still on the tollway board !! way is there still a paid tollway board? timing is everything ??

  18. So many cooks in Rauner’s communications/campaign kitchen! Just another rookie mistake, with no final check or copy editor.

Comment by walker Monday, Mar 23, 15 @ 7:49 pm

  19. Labor representatives? Why, what do THEY know about fine wines?

Comment by Streator Curmudgeon Monday, Mar 23, 15 @ 8:26 pm

  20. Railrait, board members have terms of office. Tollway employees are at-will employees. As a reminder, the current Tollway CEO’s only transportation experience was being Quinn’s staffer before managing one of the largest transportation systems in the world.

  21. Traditionally ALL partners are on board for this one as many more motorists, laborers then IDOT/Tollway employees are injured every year in these zones.
The new administration probably just does not know any union representatives to invite.
They just don’t exist in Indiana apparently.
