* Former EIU student president eventually becomes EIU’s state legislative liaison. A true success story…
As the liaison between Eastern and state legislators, former student body president Katie Anselment works to gain support for Eastern, acting as the university’s “eyes and ears” in Springfield.
Anselment, the director of constituent relations, graduated from Eastern with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a concentration in public administration in 2002.
She has also worked previously as a contact lobbyist and as the education policy and budget analyst for the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives Michael Madigan. […]
Anselment became student body president during her junior year.

Katie is one of the best and couldn’t be better suited for the job she has.
I’m stumped by the webpoll though:
With both the men and women basketball teams’ getting off to a hot start in the OVC, do you think one, both or neither will make the OVC tournament in March?

Katie works tirelessly for EIU. Those of us who make our living at the rail have know seen for many years. Great to see her getting well deserved recognition for her efforts. As an EIU alum I am pleased that my University is in good hands.

EIU is a great school, and not bad at producing quarterbacks. Two older brothers went there, were TEKE’s, and it’s still considered a fine place.

My older brother went to Eastern. I misspent a fair part of my youth there. I think it was a really fun campus, but it’s hard to remember.

not bad quarterbacks? At one time 4 in the pros, I don’t know how many now. Word, you, I, and a guy have something in common, perhaps more. Chink and Kate’s? Black Front? Sporty’s (depending on when you spent time there)

Wow! Great to hear all the favorable comments about Eastern. I retired from EIU as dean of the cCollege of Arts & Humanities and professor of English in 2010. I loved the place. As a native New Yorker I thought it was a little slice of heaven for raising my kids and living the academic life. We all loved teaching and the close relationships with students, all too rare these days. It really means a lot to me to hear your comments about Katie and Eastern. Thanks!

Katie is the best and another great reason why folks should limit their slobberin’ over the U of IL and pay more attention to the contribution the directional make to the state.
