  1. With the funds to back it up.

This long, hot summer for Illinois could eventually become a nuclear winter.

  2. Skills required: know the difference between red, yellow and green voting buttons; ability to follow orders without regard to personal consequences.

  3. They’re only giving people a week to think about a life changing opportunity on a magnitude that most people cannot begin to comprehend.

Comment by Just Me Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 3:52 pm

  4. Looks like a generic ad to be used in all competitive districts around the state. This one very slightly edited to include all NW suburban Townships — 8 or so?

Money talks to potential candidates, and can help build up local organizations.

  5. The 28th Senate district? really… Of all the possible swing seats he’s going after Kotowski?

    Comment by Mr. 1017 Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 3:57 pm

  6. The next 4 years will be extra long! Arrggg!!!

Comment by Mama Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:00 pm

  7. And you won’t have to worry one bit about campaign funds - we will take care of all of that for you. We promise to outspend any Democratic opponents 2-1.

    Comment by Joe M Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:01 pm

  8. Shouldn’t the sign read: Be owned by Ranuer in Springfield.

Comment by Anon Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:01 pm

  9. ===he’s going after Kotowski? ===

Rauner won that district by a huge margin. I don’t see it though. 2016’s turnout model is way different than 2014’s was.

Comment by Rich Miller Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:01 pm

  10. Yep, I noticed the same ad in the Daily Herald today.

Comment by No Longer A Lurker Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:02 pm

  11. Senate 22? Isn’t that Noland and isn’t he running for Congress but not up for re-election this year? Oops.
Also, Doesn’t Mulroe go into NW suburbs? Not looking for an opponent for him?…I know it would be a longer shot than Kotowski.

Comment by Suburbs Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:02 pm

  12. Optimus Prime calling all Raunerbots.

Comment by too obvious Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:05 pm

  13. Sorry other potential candidates, I’ve already nabbed the illvotehowbrucewants@gmail.com email address.

    Meet your next Senator.

Comment by Robert the Bruce Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:09 pm

  14. Crespo, Moylan and Mussman. That’s gonna be some tough sledding for 2016.

Comment by Anonymous Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:10 pm

  15. So much for playing nice with the Senate President.

Comment by GA Watcher Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:12 pm

  16. Going after Noland’s seat just doesn’t seem feasible. The guy won 65/35 in 2012. Seems like an unwinnable district if Cullerton recruits someone who’s half-way decent.

    Maybe if a pro-choice, pro-gun, female Republican runs in Kotowski’s district, but that’s a BIG MAYBE. I just don’t see a path.

Comment by The Muse Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:14 pm

  17. Maine Township is an interesting place. Super conservative newbies in charge of the politics and combine & ethically challenged trustees on the township board. Moylan Thillens looked like a real circus so expecting more of the same.

Comment by Amalia Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:14 pm

  18. Isn’t it awful that Rauner would attempt to break the stranglehold of one party rule by Madigan that has brought us to the brink of fiscal collapse?

Comment by fed up Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:15 pm

  19. “You buy the corporate HQ, then you expand…”

Wait until ILGO starts recruiting Democrats…

When do they tell the recruits, “You sign away your voting key, that’s the deal…”

I love the Legislative races. It’s my “weakness”.

Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:15 pm

  20. ===Going after Noland’s seat just doesn’t seem feasible====

Or even possible. Noland isn’t up next year.

    lol

Comment by Rich Miller Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:16 pm

  21. Qualifications are:

    a) The ability to say “corrupt union bosses bilking taxpayers for the benefit of the political class” three times in 30 seconds with a straight face.

    b) The ability to say yes governor, whatever you say.

    c) Can take orders from frat boys without question.

    d) Will vote for the legislative leader sanctioned by the governor.

Comment by Norseman Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:17 pm

  22. Grammatical error right below the picture.

Should have read : “Are you interested in runnin’ for the Illinois House or Senate in 2016?”

Comment by Tommydanger Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:21 pm

  23. @ Rich =Seems like an unwinnable district if Cullerton recruits someone who’s half-way decent.=

I’m aware - it appears it’s Congress or bust for Noland. His district just seems like a tough pick-up for the GOP, though.

Comment by The Muse Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:22 pm

  24. Norse man -
That pledge is far less onerous than the newbie dems pledge to Madigan.

Comment by Totally fed up Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:22 pm

  25. The way to a majority caucus… is a diverse caucus.

The HGOP & SGOP are going to have some fun, should be a heck of a ride.

Comment by Oswego Willy Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:26 pm

  27. Bruce wants to come back in his next life as MJM.

Comment by Wanna Be Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:31 pm

  28. ==Of all the possible swing seats he’s going after Kotowski?==

Is he, or is this a local party freelancing? An open “casting call” seems a little amateur hour for the Governor.

Comment by Arsenal Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:33 pm

  29. I just emailed nwsuburbangop@gmail.com and received an out-of-office reply from that email…the sender’s name happens to be Bruce Rauner. Weird.

Comment by Robert the Bruce Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:36 pm

  30. Heh. Is this a newspaper ad?

The approach is more transparent than the compartmentalized, phonebook-type method the House Dems employ.

Comment by BBB Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 4:48 pm

  31. Rich — Noland is apparently up in 2016. https://www.elections.il.gov/Downloads/AboutTheBoard/PDF/05_31_12PressRelease.pdf.

Comment by Sage Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 5:05 pm

  32. Yep. You’re right. My mistake.

Comment by Rich Miller Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 5:07 pm

  33. Will Rauner turn into a Republican Madigan??? A figure with power he despises….

Comment by Bud Keyes Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 5:17 pm

  34. A help wanted ad from someone who’s done nothing in government? It’s about as creepy as that King guy for the burger place.

Comment by Jack Stephens Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 5:55 pm

  35. All part of Rauner’s plan to rename Illinois, Raunerstan.

Comment by Jorge Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 6:31 pm

  36. Key qualification for candidates: the ability and willingness to campaign fulltime for six months, which includes walking door-to-door 40-50 hours a week in the final three months.

Comment by nona Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 7:02 pm

  37. So are these helped wanted ads or posted in the tollway men’s room.. how will they find whack jobs with no social agenda?

Comment by Anonin' Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 8:29 pm

  38. Is this a conflict of interest for a governor to be behind this?

Comment by Crispy Critter Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 9:27 pm

  39. @ Arsenal “==Of all the possible swing seats he’s going after Kotowski?==

Is he, or is this a local party freelancing? An open “casting call” seems a little amateur hour for the Governor.”

    1. Kotowski’s seat isn’t a swing seat. It might have gone for anti-Quinn (different than going for Rauner) but whether you like his politics or not Kotowski has worked that district for years and is well-regarded by his constituents.

    2. You really think the local Schaumburg and Maine GOPs that came up with that? Hardy har har.

Bruce and Diana popped a cool $5000 in the Maine GOP coffers late last year (2500 a pop) and Citizens for Rauner was giving the Schaumburg GOP $1000+ per MONTH for a while last year.

    Comment by A. Nonymous Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 9:41 pm

  40. Here come the big boys! AFL-CIO finally figured out it was time to jump in. Now we find out who has more money. ABOUT TIME.

Comment by Truthurts Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 10:33 pm

  41. BTW The AFL-CIO will need money

Comment by Truthurts Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 10:56 pm

  42. Is it possible to get a little red book with the fantastical, righteous, shiny-time sayings of the people’s beloved, legendary Chairman, I mean, Governor Rauner?

There used to be a heckuva GOP in this state, a progressive, great force for the state and the nation.

Comment by Wordslinger Wednesday, Jul 8, 15 @ 11:31 pm
