“1%” are we not past that nonsense yet? $1,800 a mo in SS benefits ($21,600 annually) vs. average IL pensioner receiving $40K+ per year. State workers are fed off my tax dollars. this model will have diminishing returns and is not sustainable.

Take it down a notch Word. You are too angry. You like to fault everyone else for their opinions, but in the past few days media reports have shown that you are off base (the President used his own middle name overseas and the toxicology reports in Texas differed with your assertions).

Lkwd, no one was supposed to live off of Social Security. Additionally, had the employer share been paid, it would have been cheaper than SS plus a matching 403b (which is the public version of a 401k). But hey, your worldview doesn’t allow for John Q. Public to work for 30+ years to have a decent retirement. Here’s a fun fact: GRF dollars would have had to be collected to pay what the employer owed, and to get those dollars they refused to raise taxes. That way you Lkwd, benefited from the pension funds personally. You’re a taker, taking lower taxes with the idea that someone else (the pension funds of state employees) would foot the bill later. You were on public aid all of those years.

Tippity tip tip of the iceberg here. My office has not been allowed to issue new grants or contracts since late March. We have several million in federal money hanging in the balance waiting for a budget. We are hearing about layoffs and postponed hires every week. Multiply that by every other state agency office which deals with grants, contracts, or purchases, and these add up to big bucks.

To the Post,
Given what is left that hasn’t been ruled on by the courts to be “paid”, the real pain and heat will be more intense. Judicial budgets are blind too, even when monies are finite.

So you want to set state employee pensions at the Social Security level? I’ve never understand this ridiculous comparison people make to Social Security. It’s an asinine comparison.

Guess what bub. The bill has to be paid. The sooner people accept it the better off we’ll all be. Instead of whining about it and trying to figure out a way around it our time would be better spent figuring out how to pay the bill that is due.

LOL- If anyone is a “one trick pony” these days it is the governor and his frat boy club.
He was supposed to be honest and transparent and has been anything but that. In reality he is no different than MJM (although he is better at it) and Cullerton. Appointing plenty of cronies to jobs and buying votes.
I actually wanted something different in s Springfield not the same pile of stuff with a shiny new label!

Step up and engage, any time, with your informed, intelligent, logical arguments supporting your scribbles.

Wordslinger @5:58. No problem engaging in debate on the merits of policies. But your last paragraph is a good case in point. A point of view that differs from yours had to have come from the man in the cable box. People making these arguments are too dumb to make such arguments - they are mere puppets. Imo, your goal here is not to engage in reasoned debate, it is to ridicule those who disagree with you.
