Schock complains about LaHood story

Posted in:

* Until this morning, disgraced former Congresman Aaron Schock has not tweeted since May 1st, when he criticized the media. He did it again a few minutes ago…

More press not doing hmwrk:office painted before election,LaHood hired 2 Schock staff.Sorry facts don't=story #truth https://t.co/Cf9OaR9L3n

* The piece is a bit much

The ruby red paint is gone, as is the red sofa and ottoman, the vase filled with pheasant feathers and other showy adornments.

Aaron Schock’s old congressional office, roundly criticized earlier this year for its “Downton Abbey”-style decor, is now painted in a buttery shade of beige. That suits its new occupant, Darin LaHood, just fine.

The 47-year-old Republican took Schock’s House seat after a special election in September and replaced Schock’s frippery with college pennants, a football helmet and a ball cap touting a nuclear sub, the USS Illinois — the kind of stuff people stash in basements.

A former prosecutor and state senator, LaHood has signaled in both style and substance that he is taking a different course than did Schock, a highflying congressman whose questionable use of tax dollars and campaign cash has made him the target of a federal grand jury probe.

  3. Dear Ex-Congressman,
Do you think this is helping? If so, then that explains a lot.

  4. For the love of all that is Holy…not all of Congressman Schock’s staffers were bad people.

  5. Interestingly, in Schock’s case facts did make the story. Like more miles reported driven for reimbursement than miles on the odometer of the vehicle, or the date, time, and location of photos he shared.

I can see how the former congressman could be confused by facts.

  6. Ray LaHood a few years ago replaced Chris Shays as the media’s favorite Republican largely because of his scorn towards the Right so it’s not a surprise Darin is getting this treatment to start.

No sympathy though for Schock and staff staying on is almost always common when a seat goes from one party member to another.

  8. This La Hood story was a joke…..a rookie can’t support compromise on the budget bill. His dad and Bob Michel would have voted YES, they knew what compromise was.

  16. That’s funny because Schock kept 5 Ray Lahood staffers in 2009. Oh and I’m pretty sure the downton Abby office wasn’t the online renovation paid for with taxpayer dollars during the Schock Era.

Probably would be best if Aaron turned on P90X and put the phone down.

  17. I would have kept the office the way I found it.

  18. Schock you should learn to to keep your mouth shut. No one wants to hear from you. It may cost you more tome in jail.

  19. Aaron, just go away.

If you want to gripe, look up mel reynolds, for lunch. And prison pointers.

Comment by Langhorne Monday, Jan 4, 16 @ 11:48 am

  20. If I were Schock, I wouldn’t be dissing anyone on “homework” and “facts.”

His only hope is a defense of not doing his homework and not knowing the facts.

  24. Indispensable man schocked to discover how dispensable he actually is.

What part of Downton Abbey did Schock miss? The entire series has been about the passing of Edwardian England and the loss of Victorian society during the 20th Century.

Which episode of Downton Abbey showed England’s future leaders aping the style and mannerism of 1893?

What was Schock’s next big idea? Bring back the trolleys so that Judy Garland can meet us in St. Louis?

  26. Frippery? Ooooooo - someone used a thesaurus!

    Comment by RIJ (formerly PolPal56) Monday, Jan 4, 16 @ 2:04 pm

  27. Um… didn’t it actually cost MORE to have the office repainted, in order to convey the illusion of frugality, than it would have cost to leave the Downton Abbey red?
