The governor’s helpers

Posted in:

Out there in the three-dimensional world of actual human contact, these two people defend the governor’s interests…

Here at the blog, an often lonely voice regularly takes up the governor’s cause. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you “Bill.”

Believe it or not, he seems like a really nice guy in person.

  1. Looks like the back of Rezko’s head.

  2. Why are these ladies smiling? “Bill” just gave them $1,500 smackers for their birthday.

Comment by if it walks like a duck... Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 7:25 am

  3. I think they are smiling because we just got another 4 more years!!!

Keep smiling ladies, you are doing a terrific job.

And Bill, whoever you are, keep up the good work. I only wish I had enough time to counter all the whack jobs on this site.

Comment by Roomie Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 7:33 am

  4. Bill is one of the good guys in public service.

Bill, the good man who serves but all the while sees the worst in public life advance, but keeps faith - Bill, in Shakepeare’s King John, the best Man in the play realizes that thos ehe serves are crumbs but does not break faith - he lets this out-

That broker that still breaks the pate of faith,
That daily break-vow, he that wins of all,
Of kings, of beggars, old men, young men, maids,
Who having no external thing to lose
    But the word ‘maid,’ cheats the poor maid of that;
    That smooth-fac’d gentleman, tickling commodity,
Commodity, the bias of the world-
    King John Act II,sc.2.

  5. I’d rather be a “whack job” than a “hack job” anyday!

Comment by if it walks like a duck... Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 7:56 am

  6. He didn’t want his photo taken did he?

Comment by Levois Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 8:09 am

  7. Bill’s photo makes it unclear whether the light is emanating from the shiny spot on his head or entering his brain at that point as a transmission from St. Rod.

Either way, a halo is missing.

Comment by Truthful James Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 8:13 am

  8. “Levois,” we both decided it would be best if we didn’t show his face. I want to have a blogger party sometime in the near future and he said he’d attend, so maybe he’ll complete the “outing” at that time. Or maybe he’ll wear a mask. Up to him. lol

Comment by Rich Miller Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 8:15 am

  9. Rich, nice picture of the mythical “Bill”, looks a little bit like a “urinal shot” though…

Curiously, do all “True Believers” emit the same eery green glow???

Comment by Animous Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 8:33 am

  10. You know what’s a little eerie is that’s about how I pictured Bill in my mind. The only exception is I imagined him wearing a plaid cotton shirt. Nice suit, Bill!

Comment by Walking Wounded Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 8:49 am

  11. Funny, that is a similar view that Blgo sees, except more from the top.

(Rich, hopefully this did not cross the line. I understand if it is deleted, though.)

Comment by Wumpus Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 9:14 am

  12. I think Bill’s views are nuts, but at least he is passionate!

Comment by curious Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 9:37 am

  13. When did Rod hire Eric Zorn?

Comment by Jake Parrillo Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 9:43 am

  14. Now I have to walk around the Capitol all day trying to match that pic to the backs of people’s heads.

Comment by anon Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 10:27 am

  15. Jake,
ERIC ZORN????Now that really is an insult!

Comment by Bill Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 10:45 am

  16. Those two women are smiling because they don’t have to worry about figuring out who their baby daddies are to get some money. Thanks to HOT ROD, the taxpayers can foot the bill.

Comment by HRH Weezer Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 11:21 am

  17. Bill is a sweetheart, and unlike nearly everyone on this blog including me, he was right about the election results.

On the other hand, Bill is too delusional. I can be too sometimes, but rarely without beer.

Bill has always taken his hero’s stand, and has always put the best spin on every turd dropping out of Blagojevich’s pants. It takes a sick sense of humor to do that straight-faced, and I admire that level of insanity. Nixon needed Bill. (Maybe Bill WAS there, and Nixon would have resigned in 1973 without his undying adoration.)

Well Bill, you big old sick Care Bear, you gave us a lot to chock on these past eight months, and try as I did, couldn’t compete with your happy spin in that toilet bowl of Blagojevich’s political world.

You have a gift. Now, Satan wants it back.

Comment by VanillaMan Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 11:37 am

  18. Well, Bill, take this as a compliment or not, but you and old AA look quite a bit alike from that particular vantage point. How ironic.

So watch the hair jokes, kiddies, or you’ll have to deal with the both of us.

Comment by Arthur Andersen Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 12:59 pm

  19. AA –

and Bill. Just remember to call the problem advancing skinline.

Comment by Truthful James Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 1:02 pm

  20. Bill’s rather interesting photo makes him look like he belongs on an episode of the X-Files.

    Nice green glow, folks.

Comment by Angie Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 1:33 pm

  21. By the way, if you fellas are balding, do yourselves a favor and just shave it off already. Nature is already giving you the hint.

You’ll go from looking balding to hip instantaneously.

Minus the green lighting, of course. lol

    Comment by Angie (post-script) Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 1:39 pm

  22. Looks like Bill and I do have something in common, afterall (beautifully shiny pate).

Comment by PalosParkBob Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 1:57 pm

  23. You mean Bill is really an actual person and not some media personality or clever Republican doing some schtick?

Come to think of it, about a week before the election, I think I saw the back of that head driving erractically in a van with a Blagojevich bumper sticker with a bunch of old ladies in the back.

Comment by Establishment Republican Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 2:13 pm

  24. Angie - On the shaved head thing. I agree men should do that (never ever comb over) but only when they have nice round heads. Nothing worse than a lumpy bald head except a lumpy one with tan lines! LOL

Comment by Belle Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 2:30 pm

  25. Party? Did Rich say party? Rich will that be in Springfield or in the Milo style in Chicago?

Comment by Whizbang Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 2:32 pm

  26. Someone hasn’t gotten that message to Donald Trump yet, apparently. lol

Comment by Angie (to Belle) Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 3:07 pm

  27. Wow he doesn’t have horns…

Sorry couldn’t pass that one up.

Kind of figured Bill had to be a nice guy, that kind of positive outlook on any public offical requires a sunny streak.

Comment by OneMan Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 3:25 pm

  28. is that marty cohen?

Comment by Silas Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 3:30 pm

  29. Was the photo taken at Braidwood or Dresden?

Comment by Squideshi Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 3:42 pm

  30. It’s interesting to note that “Bill” got all the attention in this segment, and the ladies didn’t even field a comment.

Comment by Just Wonderin' Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 4:26 pm

  31. Bill, I knew we would get dissed on the hair.

As far as the ladies, they earn every penny of whatever they are paid. BTW, leaving the nerd patrol at Channel 20 was the best thing Rebecca ever could have done. Can’t wait to see the 6 pm news with “Storm Team 20″ in full DEFCON 5 status, given that there is apparently a possibility of some snow pellets tonight. The sight of young newsies standing on the I-55 overpasses freezing their cabooses off doing live reports still draws giggles at AA’s house even after all these years.

Comment by Arthur Andersen Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 5:28 pm

  32. I think the ladies will have a very difficult job in about a year when things get heated up with our glorious leader the Governor, but they did a great job defending him during the campaign. As far as “Bill” goes he looks live a vanilla version of Marsellus Wallace from Pulp Fiction.

    Comment by Wolf J. Flywheel Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 5:44 pm

  33. Rebecca, check
    Abby, check
    Becky Carroll????!!!!
Where’s the third horsewoman of the apocalypse these days?

Comment by Frank Booth Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 6:42 pm

  34. did somebody say party? I will dryclean my best toga. can’t be out of town I am not important enough to be allowed out of town I have to stay at my desk. Important people get to travel throughout the province, I for my part get to be a clerical worker and regurtitrate policy to the masses.
you all might be disappointed with me if you meet me in person though I am beyond girl status, middle aged. if I live to be 76.

Comment by roman girl Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 7:53 pm

  35. Absolutely hilarious Rich! As hard as this is for me to say, Bill was at his best when the Goobernor was at his worst. Bill never gave up the fight. I must admit I enjoyed the conflict.

Comment by Rex Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 8:14 pm

  36. Party? Go for it!!! It should be held in between the Patch and Chicagoland. Is there any good place in Pontiac? I’ll even wear my elephant and donkey patterned boxers.

Comment by Buck Flagojevich Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 9:23 pm

  37. At one time there was a bar on the square in Pontiac that had more stuffed dead animals on the walls than Patrick Fitzgerald has political heads mounted in his office.

Comment by Michelle Flaherty Wednesday, Nov 15, 06 @ 9:44 pm

  38. Bill’s Angels. “Hello Angels, today we’re spinning….”
