  1. Oooh, I feel another fight about the temps where I work at. We never resolved it last year and it was cold, cold, cold, throughout the winter. This is gonna be fun. Management doesn’t seem to understand the concept of healthcare facility in the state.

  2. Fusco suggests that Bryan Samuels’ departure is connected to a disagreement with the guv’s office over state computer contracts. A publicized dispute.Pretty minor but perhaps a warning to other department heads to keep differences of opinion to themselves.

Samuels says he is leaving because the agency is stable but he has no other job lined up. And the agency isn’t that stable. A headline in today’s Trib refers to what appears to be more bungling by DCFS’ child protection department agents, who
were investigating a Chicago suburban home when
a teen in the home murdered her newborn recently. A very tragic story, and preventable.

Samuels’ departure and replacement by an aide who is presumably more compliant with the guv’s office isn’t going to fix that.

  3. rich’s conclusion this morning on 848 was priceless (paraphrased): the only think we know for sure is that he will make a lot of money!

  4. Any Director of a state agency with any integrity would leave this administration. The amount of micro-managing the state agencies, and the stealing of funding from state agency budget for pet projects (that do not even tie to what was approved by the General Assembly) is unprecedented in state government. The Governor and his pals are like kids in a candy store. It is time for them to grow up.
