McCann hit again, while Edgar cuts TV ad for Acklin

Posted in:

* A new TV ad from Liberty Principles PAC whacks Sen. Sam McCann again

“Raising our taxes while dodging his own.” Oof. Proft is spending more than $600K on this spot.

* And Gov. Jim Edgar upped the ante in his bid to influence the 102nd House District three-way GOP primary. Gov. Rauner is supporting former Rep. Brad Halbrook, but Edgar cut a TV ad for Jim Acklin

* Dan Proft is supporting Rauner’s candidate Halbrook as well. Here’s Proft’s ad, which features the governor

* Proft is running a similar ad (without Rauner) for Mike DeSutter in the three-way primary to replace GOP Rep. Don Moffitt

  1. Here are the visuals…

The Raunerites are dismantling the Republican Party, and Jim Edgar seems to be the only one willing to stand up for Republicans in Illinois.

    Remember, Raunerites support Ken Dunkin.

That’s real, Republicans, all too real.

    “Vote Accordingly”

  2. Proft’s ads look like they came right out of a PAC. No disclaimer was needed.

  3. If I was Proft, I would use the firm doing the mccann stuff for all of his campaigns. the mccann stuff is hard hitting, it moves quicker and it catches you. the halbrook ad using the poor rauner video was just weak. just sayin’

  4. Edgar straight to camera vs. Rauner audio from a wind tunnel. There is some value in coordination.

  5. Looks like Proft is starting his own newspaper too. From the front page of today’s Daily Herald.

  6. Hellooo… Does Profit not know the joke is on him? McCann is a Senator not a Representative, & Madigan is the Speaker of the House of Representatives. One has nothing to do with the other one. The people downstate do not vote for Mike Madigan & they don’t care that Rauner does not like him. As a matter of fact, the people downstate are happy Madigan is standing up to Rauner. Profit, your ad shows your lack of…

  7. Mama you are right. By the way Proft isnt doing a newspaper. Its a political ad disguised as a newspaper. Very deceptive as usual.

  8. Mama, the Proft & Rauner people don’t want you confused by the facts.
The just want the public to go with the flow.
    Repeat after Rauner & Proft:
    “Madigan…bad…
    Madigan…bad…”

  9. Operator: Speaker, Senator McCain is on line two.
Speaker: Thank you, put it through. click Hello, Speaker Madigan here, what can I do for you Senator McCain? How is the weather in Arizona?
McCann: This is Senator McCann from Carlinville calling about,…
    Speaker: Sorry, wrong number…click.

Yeah, McCann is Madigan’s best pal. They are always sharing apples in the Rathskeller at lunch too.

  10. While it’s not exactly a new development, it’s still rather disturbing that a handful of wealthy individuals are so brazenly attempting to buy elections to push their preferred agenda that has limited voter appeal.

  11. That Halbrook ad is simply garbage. Did Proft make it on Windows Movie Maker?

That Edgar ad will carry much more weight than the craptastic effort from the Cicero Command Center.

  12. The thing that bothers me is the term “sleazy” in reference to McCann. That seems to be very weird. According to webster’s dictionary that would mean Sam McCann is “flimsy; lacking firmness or texture; cheap and inferior.” McCann must be stopped, he has no texture!

  13. Who need orginality when you have canned crap like that…

  14. Mama I am not sure people realize the distinction that McCann is in the Senate and the Speaker in the house. I think McCann and his folks need to get that out there.

  15. “The people downstate are happy Madigan is standing up to Rauner.”

Bahaha. Yeah, right. Let’s get out the laugh meter and see how high it goes on that one.

  16. Neither of the two Liberty Principles PAC, anti-McCann flyers we got in the mail this week even mentioned Bryce Benton. Both were just hit pieces on McCann.

  17. Many people downstate have little idea who Madigan is (Some Chicago guy.) But they know who Rauner is (that billionaire who thinks I make too much money and pretends to be a biker)and everyday they like him less….

Comment by IllinoisBoi Friday, Feb 19, 16 @ 2:23 pm

  18. If you’re keeping score, Proft has now thrown over $1 Million against McCann (yeah, a little of it was for Benton - who doesn’t appear to have spent any money himself) in a downstate, Central Illinois State Senate race. And we’ve got 3 weeks to go. Oooof!

Comment by Behind the Scenes Friday, Feb 19, 16 @ 2:37 pm

  19. FYI…Rauner does not consider the Illinois Farm Bureau a special interest.

Comment by Beaner Friday, Feb 19, 16 @ 4:16 pm

  20. Republicans of the 50th Senate district:

This Winnetka-Chicago duo think throwing expensive propaganda at you will “correct” your “faulty” impressions about what’s good for your district.

In this day & age, they don’t even have to make an appearance in your district; they simply buy the airwaves and stuff your mailbox, and sit back to see if you bite.
