To the post: Credence Clearwater Revival. Fortunate Son from Willie and the Poor Boys.

Comment by Bronco Bahma Monday, Feb 29, 16 @ 1:39 pm

  7. I think this group has touched on this theme before, but Rauner’s favorite band depends on who he is talking to? If he’s in Decatur, maybe it’s Springfield. If it’s in Chatham, maybe it’s Chance the Rapper. If he’s in the DuQuoin area, maybe it’s Rascal Flatts or Luke Bryan or whomever. If he’s in your own home, he will have had a staff member look at you or your spouse’s Facebook page to see if you’ve listed any favorite bands in your profile or if you’ve posted any pictures from a concert on your Instagram or Twitter account.

  9. For the inauguration, he had to bring in some marquee names to fill the joint, but he also made room for his personal fave. After a long day of governin, I bet he likes to unwind by cranking the Boat Drink Caucus.

  15. Limp Bizkit.

Poseur band whose lead singer Fred Durst fooled people for a bit, and then thankfully disappeared from relevance.

Comment by Robert the Bruce Monday, Feb 29, 16 @ 1:50 pm

  16. When he wants some old-school, bluesy rock, he listens to the Rollin’ Stones.

When he’s in the mood for some Irish-hued punk, he goes with Floggin’ Molly.

For those laid back Sundays, the Travelin’ Wilburys.

    Comment by Bill F. Monday, Feb 29, 16 @ 1:51 pm

  17. In some ways, Rauner strikes me like Chris Christie — he’s a rich out of touch white guy, who would embrace an artist like Bruce Springsteen without realizing that Bruce’s songs attack rich out of touch white guys like Christie and Rauner.

For a politician who is heavy on symbols (the van, the Carhartt, etc.) he does seem remarkably clueless about how others perceive him.

Comment by Gooner Monday, Feb 29, 16 @ 1:52 pm

  18. Milli Vanilli. The words and actions don’t sync up.

Comment by wordslinger Monday, Feb 29, 16 @ 1:56 pm

  19. Social Distortion?

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes?

  20. Barry Manilow, although Barry McGuire with The Eve of Destruction would be the most appropriate.

Comment by Big Joe Monday, Feb 29, 16 @ 2:06 pm

  21. He is a big fan of Narcocorrido.
Bands like Los Canelos de Durango with foot tapping hits such as “La Vida Mafiosa” (the Mafia Life) were a favorite before turning to politics. After being elected he began listening more to Los Tigres del Norte, with their unforgettable hit “El Jefe de Jefes” (The Boss of the Bosses). However, since the closure of Lutheran Socialist Services he has placed “Chingon de Chingones” (The Badass of Badasses) by Los Razos de Sacramento y Reynaldo into heavy rotation.

As a Dartmouth College Theta Delt, by law Bruce Rauner’s favorite singer is Jerry Jeff Walker.

The only thing he and likely agree on.
