  1. Had to click the frown because Madigan never smiles… Well, only when he turns into a bat at nightand gets some delicious fruit

  2. Voted “Frown”

    “Why?”

    I’m “frown” all day…

If you get the “smile” and “you’ll be fine” that’s far worse knowing it’s “coming”.

The “frown”? Madigan says much more with a frown, or keeps to himself the many reasons for a “frown”

Plus, the “frown” could also indicate the wheels are still turning and your demise isn’t up to muster yet. Yikes.

Or, the “frown” could just be Apple-Withdrawl…

    Yeah. It’s “Frown”. All day.

  3. I don’t trust the smile.

  4. Frown. “Smirk” I would have been ok with. But THAT smile… Unsettling.

  5. Speaker,

    Happy Birthday.

While your frown has many layers, I hope you smile in your special day.

I will partake in an Apple Cannoli in your honor.

    My best wishes,

    Oswego Willy

  6. Frown. Since Rauner got in, no one has had much to smile about.

Comment by DuPage Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:09 am

  7. Picked Smile, because Madgian smiles all the time. Tribbie photags complain because they have folks tralin’ him all the time lookin’ for frowns and have millions of shots doin’ otherwise

  8. Frown-Who is the picture of the guy smiling supposed to be??

  9. I think both are a little flashy for Madigan.

Comment by Century Club Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:13 am

  10. Frown
I couldn’t recall seeing him smile.
The frown seemed more normal to me.

Comment by Belle Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:13 am

  11. Frown - Madigan’s frown is his smile.

Comment by Fisher Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am

  12. I picked smile, because I think Madigan has some plan to capitalize off of this shenanigans politically. So in the end - he’ll be smiling.

    Comment by A Modest Proposal Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am

  13. Smile because there is nothing better than an Irish smile. A smile can ease the tension in a room.

Comment by Mama Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am

  14. Frown.

It fits his nature more than the smile.

Comment by Formerly Known As... Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:15 am

  15. Frown. Expressionless is his natural look.

Comment by Bogey Golfer Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:19 am

  16. Madigan has just two words for Mr. Rauner:

    Dunkin
    McCann

Comment by Rollo Tomasi Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:28 am

  17. Who’s the guy on the right?

  19. The guy on the right.

    #FakeMadigan

  20. Frown.

I honestly believe that neither Rauner nor Madigan are happy about the state of the state. So, no smiles from either.

We might see that smile on November 6, 2018. But not before then.

Comment by the Other Anonymous Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:39 am

  21. Voted Frown.

For the guy yesterday who said we pick on Rauner too much, at least the Governor can smile without his face cracking.

I saw a photo several months ago of the Speaker attempting to smile and it was…creepy.

Comment by Streator Curmudgeon Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:40 am

  22. Frown, I see him as the guy who thinks you should just shut up and listen to me.

Comment by OneMan Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:42 am

  23. Thanks for captioning the “frown” as a frown. He proves the old adage. “If you keep making that face it will freeze that way”. It’s the normal expression for him. All emotions = frown.

    Comment by A guy Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 11:53 am

  24. He smiles? Prove it.

Comment by JS Mill Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 12:08 pm

  25. Smile, because it looked like a leprechaun.

Comment by Six Degrees of Separation Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 12:26 pm

  26. I would be significantly more nervous if he smiled at me than if he frowned at me.

  27. SMILE
I think it’s because I’m on heavy medication.

Comment by VanillaMan Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 1:06 pm

  28. I recognize the guy in the frown picture. Who is the guy in the smile picture?

Comment by Tommydanger Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 2:01 pm

  29. I don’t think I have ever seen the Speaker smile. I can’t even imagine it.

Comment by Just Me Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 2:27 pm

  30. === I can’t even imagine it===

Oh, c’mon. He’s a human being, despite what the Tribune says.

He actually has a pretty good sense of humor, particularly after a couple of glasses of vino.

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Apr 19, 16 @ 2:40 pm

  31. This is the Madigan thirty-three cent coin, used to settle the re-map and other disputes. “Heads, you lose,” is the first image, followed by “heads, I win,” on the reverse.
