Comment by Belle Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 9:59 am

  5. Rahm (playing Paul Crewe) reenacts his favorite scene from “The Longest Yard” by hitting the Guard (played by Bruce Rauner) with a hard pass to the lower abdomen.

Comment by Stones Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:00 am

  6. I want to increase my popularity to Jay Cutler-level!

Comment by Concerned Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:03 am

  7. Today is going to be full of dumb public appearances by Roger Goodell and Rahm Emanuel.

We’ve covered this ground before but pretending-to-care-about-sports Rahm is as insulting and disingenuous as Carhartt Bruce.

Ask Ron Santos and the ghost of Bobby Hull.

Comment by LizPhairTax Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:04 am

Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:09 am

  15. All I can think of when I see this is the Peyton Manning commercial where he drills the little kid in the back because he’s not running the right route. It just seems like how Rahm would coach peewee ball.

Comment by Century Club Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:09 am

Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:22 am

  24. Rahm’s a pretty good passer. He passed a property tax hike and he passed pension reform, although the last one got picked off by Bob Thomas’ team.

  28. “I’m only throwing Hail Marys from here on out. Oh, and I’m gonna throw this football.”

Comment by Boooooooo Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:31 am

  29. @LizPhairTax wins this thread. The mayor is good at a lot of things, and can probably out run/bike/swim us all with his triathlon training. But he doesn’t know squat about sports and when he pretends to be interested in this kind of stuff it makes you cringe. Dude, just own who you are. Nobody will care if you can’t name 3 players the Bears should draft, or even 3 players on the Bears if you fix what’s wrong with Chicago.

Comment by Curious Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:34 am

  30. “So…after I do this we get to go to the Wine and Cigar Tent? Right?”

Comment by JS Mill Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:36 am

Comment by Tequila Mockingbird Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:41 am

  32. –Ask Ron Santos and the ghost of Bobby Hull.–

What was extra-special hilarious about the latter was that The Golden Jet was standing right behind Emanuel when he claimed that Bobby was in heaven, looking down.

You couldn’t miss him. He was the big dude with the polar bear pelt on his head.

Comment by wordslinger Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:57 am

  33. “No tax dollars were used to throw this party.”

Just where does Choose Chicago obtain the money from their budget?

    Tax dollars.

How much did Choose Chicago spend on the NFL Draft?

We are still waiting for Don Welsh to tell us because Choose Chicago says they’re exempt from FOIA requests.

    Comment by Chicago 20 Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 10:59 am

  34. “Bruce, you run a route along Michigan, cut behind the Bean, I’ll fake it to you.”

Comment by Bogey Golfer Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 11:08 am

  35. He should try to play 60 and 30 instead

Comment by LizPhairTax Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 11:08 am

  36. Rahm demonstrates the new rule allowing 2 balls in play at the same time. The defense will have to get both ball carriers down before the play ends. If both balls end up in the end zone, the offense gets triple points for the play.

Comment by Huh? Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 11:19 am

  37. I almost forgot about his expression of joy that the Bears were “3 and Zero” when he left the White House.

And to Curious’ point, and to borrow from Kenny Powers, I play real sports. I’m not about being the best at exercising.

Rahm can be a hero to the soul cycle set but he will never know what a catching a Clincher at Oz Patk feels like. It’d be better for us all if he’d just own that.

  38. No matter how many balls that Rahm has in play, he is about to be sacked by Black Lives Matter.

  39. Draft Town is just another reason I hate Rahm.

Comment by JoanP Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 11:29 am

  40. The annual wearing of Da Bears jacket. Does Rahm keep his Bears jacket in the same closet Bruce keeps his Carhartt jacket?

Comment by Vote Quimby! Thursday, Apr 28, 16 @ 11:30 am

  41. Maybe this will help me get rid of that Ballerina nickname.
