Gotta go with DHS on this one. I was in Trotter’s restaurant a few weeks a go and ordered a steak medium rare….I got it medium! Boy was I peeved.

  2. I mentioned it on my blog that Mangieri can’t win an election so he has to be appointed to a new position.

He seemed to be stuck in a weird position. Too popular to lose locally but not popular enough to win regionally.

  3. Too popular to lose locally? He couldn’t carry his own precinct when he ran for State Senate. As they say, the fifth time’s the charm.

  4. Trotter furious over lousy grade - Demands explanation from Department of Homeland Security

What? The city’s planned response to throw mattresses at a disaster suddenly isn’t a very good idea anymore?

  5. The Cook County monitor referred to using exempt positions as shells to move people subsequently into protected, lifetime civil service positions
in the bloated Cook County government system.

Doesn’t our Blago do the same thing daily?
I wonder if it’s a violation of Rutan. It’s not clear that it’s violation of Shakman.

Seems to be a big loophole left by the architects of good government civil service laws….on purpose?

  6. Judge Paul Mangieri has been a good soldier for his party and a fine States Attorney. Congratulations, Your Honor!…and thanks for your serivce to the people of Knox County and Illinois.

  7. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Tickets are now available for Governor Blagojevich’s inaugural ball on January 8. Called “Virility on the Prairie,” the ball will highlight the people, communities, traditions, inventions, resources, corruption and scandals that are unique to Illinois. The ball will be held in Springfield at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Exposition Building, conveniently located near the airport.

In a statement, Blagojevich says he will not only celebrate four more years in office, but also the state’s nefarious people and their campaign contributions. The ball is black-tie optional, with a limited number of tickets available at a cost of $35 per person. (Potential attendees must have pre-registered via the ‘Friends of Blagojevich, Inc’ for $500 or more.) Tickets to the Inaugural Ball are available through Tickemaster.
