Now Rauner takes the high road?

Posted in:

* Pot, meet kettle

Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Thursday lashed out at Gov. Bruce Rauner, comparing the Republican governor’s call for Downstate Democrats to stand up against the Chicago machine to Donald Trump’s “playbook of demonizing one group of people for his political advantage.”

Rauner responded to the attack during an afternoon appearance in Itasca, comparing Emanuel to Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis, who is known for her sharp retorts.

“I don’t know where all these goofy personal attacks come from,” Rauner said. “That’s not helpful. I’m starting to think Rahm is taking his speaking lessons from Karen or something. This is not helpful. We’ve got to focus on the facts and what’s constructive.” [Emphasis added.]

Well, yeah. So if focusing on what’s helpful and constructive is so important, then what has the governor been doing for the last three days? That Emanuel comment didn’t emerge from a vacuum.

Everybody needs to calm the heck down.

I’m perfectly calm, dude…. Calmer than you are.

Seriously though, what are those things called again… Ooda loops? Yeah. Trying to be all things to all people will make you nothing to most people.

  2. I’m not quite sure where Bruce’s goofy attacks and ideas come from other than the current Titular head of the Republican party.

  3. You can’t bash people on a tour designated to “name names” and take the bully pulpit to purposely go after, make no mistake, people that sometimes feel like personal attacks… then decide it’s time, arbitrarily, for it to end when the last “assault” was aimed at you.

    Here is my suggestion…

It’s Thursday. Complete Friday’s schedule and scheduled “news dumps” (ugh), then all parties, no public remarks.

Start fresh Monday, but only agree to do this if all come back Monday, constructively.

Cool off. Stop pointing at the other guy, bashing.

Take pause. Everyone be thoughtful to what that pause can bring in good will.

    This is everyone.

Enough. CPS, CTU, Rahm, Rauner, Madigan…

… Surrogates, this means y’all too. If you’re going on a podcast, radio show, Tee-Vee… no bashing.

“We all know everyone wants to find common ground.”

Everyone can agree with that, right!?

    Monday.

Even Danny Kaffee sent Sam and Jo off to cool it.

“Go do, whatever it is you do”… Everyone.

Facts? Rauner doesn’t even know when he actually says something factual.

    Constructive? He meant destructive!

  6. I did see a very funny Facebook post one day that said:
“In the history of the world, no one has ever calmed down as the result of being told to “calm down. Not once.” lol.

Not terribly relevant, but kinda funny. Might loosen things up a bit.

I would actually bet a dollar that he is repeating what was just told to him, about his own behavior.

    He listens then he projects.

Good advice. But I’m convinced raunner & his SuperStarts have some learning limitations and are not trainable.

  9. I’d call him two-faced, but I think that falls short of adequately describing his film-flam-idness. The anti-George Washington ala “I cannot tell the truth.” Yep…MOU the cr@p outta him.

  11. Karen Lewis, like her or not, has been more productive in her job in the last two years than Bruce Rauner has been in his.

  12. Like I said yesterday, you can’t make a deal with someone who changes his demands / wants / actions every day.

Time for Rauner to go to his Colorado ranch and let some professional politicians work things out in his absence.

  13. This is scary
Not only doesn’t anyone in IL listen to BigBrain
Apparently he does not listen to himself. Yikes.

btw it appears some of the BigBrain poll plunge could be attributed to Nick Ayers & Chip goin’ to Vegas to suck up the Sheldon Adlesteon cash for a new Trump SuperPac. As soon as they are back the BigDaddyBruce cash cruiser will stop listing so much.

Sadly the CTU mission seems is to perpetuate mediocrity (and that’s being generous) protect its disgruntled. Sadly I was in springpatch and met two CTU teachers asked them what they were in town for? The response “Some conference that we will learn nothing from but its better than being in a classroom” Followed by “I’m sorry Does that sound bad?” We cant quit make to much money was in the next salvo.
