The ‘bankruptcy dodge’ touted by Senate Majority Leader Jones and Minority Leader Cross is as compelling as Comed CEO’ Frank ‘The Mail Room Guy’ Clark’s concern for ‘what’s in the mail’ and the gradual rate adjustment. Wally’s Last Stop at 85th & Kedzie took longer to close nearly 30 years than COMed will even get close to bankruptcy
As long as there is an ounce of blood in the utility turnip, Old Mailroom Frank and the lads will be squeezing away with the help of Emil and Tom from across the aisle.

Well, maybe.
But what about all those DuPage residents who come to Cook County and get free medical care, including major surgery, whether they can pay for it or not, at Cook County Hospital.
And because Cook County government is completely inept, the hospital business office doesn’t bother to find out if the DuPagers can pay and thus recoup at least a little money, or, at least, bill DuPage County for their citizens’ free care.
I’d say that even with the migrating poor, DuPage is still getting the better part of the deal.

Ochsenfeld, President of Shut This Airport Nightmare Down in Peotone, is an active member of the Will County Green Party and will soon be a precinct committeeman. The Democratic and Republican positions on the airport (both in favor of building) have done a lot to win support for the Green Party amongst the normally conservative, rural communities surrounding Peotone.

FOR PREVENTING THE POOR PEOPLE OF COOK COUNTY FROM BEING A BURDEN TO THE CITIZENS OF DUPAGE AND LAKE COUNTIES, AND FOR MAKING THEM BENEFICIAL TO THE PUBLIC
I have been assured by a very knowing DuPager of my acquaintance in Wheaton, that a young healthy child from Cook County well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout.
I believe no one from Oak Brook or Inverness would repine to give twenty dollars for the carcass of a good fat Chicago child, which, as I have said, will make four dishes of excellent nutritive meat.
Those of Naperville or Highland Park who are more thrifty (as I must confess the times require) may flay the carcass; the skin of which artificially dressed will make admirable gloves for ladies, and summer boots for fine gentlemen.
I profess, in the sincerity of my heart, that I have not the least personal interest in endeavoring to promote this necessary work, having no other motive than the public good of my beloved State of Illinois, by advancing our trade, providing for infants, relieving the poor, and giving some pleasure to the rich. I have no children by which I can propose to get a single penny; the youngest being nine years old, and my wife past child-bearing.

Honest question at the heart of this issue. When they closed down the projects, how many people moved to DuPage?
