* A new Anzalone Liszt Grove Research poll taken June 9-14 of 601 likely voters found that 60 percent rated Gov. Rauner’s job performance as negative, with “Not so good” at 21 percent and “Poor” at 39 percent. Just 33 percent said he was either doing a “Good” (26 percent) or “Excellent” (7 percent) job.
…Adding… It should be noted that this is not a “traditional” way of asking about approval ratings. But there are different ways of asking the question.
50 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion of Gov. Rauner, including 35 percent who had a very unfavorable opinion. Just 35 percent said they had a favorable opinion of Rauner, with a mere 11 percent saying they had a very favorable opinion of him.
By contrast, President Obama’s fave/unfave numbers were 63/34.
* The poll also had some bad news for ComEd and Exelon’s energy proposal and for legislators who vote for it as-is. The wording of the polls seems more professional than the one released earlier this month by Exelon, but they are quite negative. Still, as an issue test, they’re interesting. But the sample size for the competitive legislative district over-sample is probably too small to rely on here.

* After all the push questions, they found that 81 percent oppose the Exelon bill’s “demand charge.” No surprise, considering the loaded questions, but that’s actually the same result as before the final question was asked. But check this out…

A Saturday Evening Republican recently told the group I was with rather angrily (three generous cocktails into the evening) that Rauner is a failure because he has not done enough to shut down the government and cut off spending. The guy that made the statement was fired up about Trump and would probably give Rauner a negative rating if polled because in his view Rauner had gone soft and not pushed things over the brink . . . . crazy days. Makes you wonder how much of that 60% could be turned if Rauner truly went over the edge.

I don’t think it’s accurate to say “the people have a low impression of everybody”.
The results you cite suggest that if Rauner and legislators support a bill that benefits big business, most voters would think their motivation would be to benefit big business, or harvest campaign cash.
President Obama’s 2-1 approval certainly shows that people have a favorable impression of him. His strong approval is the mirror image of Rauner’s strong disapproval, in fact.

Puzzling how anyone other than the untouchable uber wealthy could possibly think Rauner is doing an excellent or even good job. What are his accomplishments to date? Other than ruining a whole lot of peoples’ lives, I can’t think of anything constructive that he’s achieved. If I’m wrong, I’d like to see a list of his improvements in our state.

The people are angry - no doubt about it. I’m just not sure how we get past it given events on the state and national level. I truly do worry about the future of our country.

Maybe Ilinoisans are coming slowly around to the sick joke played on them by Rauner and co. As far as Pres. Obama’s ratings responding so well to the phenomenon called Trump — Obama looks like the embodiment of the ultimate statesmen compared to a GOP operatives description of Donald Trump — “Cheeto Jesus.”

First, use the Google.
Second, pollsters often throw in political questions on stuff like this. They don’t always release them, however, because, well, they will need a certain governor’s signature. Kudos to them, but, wow.

To answer your question ok, Solar City is a national rooftop solar developer that opposes the demand charge because of its negative impact on rooftop solar.
What is most interesting to me about this poll is that before any arguments are presented, right off the bat 81% of Illinois folks oppose demand charges and 78% support net metering. Those results are just stunning.

Absolutely.
Clinton’s negatives are high — until you compare them to Trump’s. His are shockingly high.
I never thought that Trump actually wanted the gig.I figured he was brand-building, on the cable and radio yakkers’ dime, and was just as surprised as anyone else when he won.
Now he’s riding the tiger, and he can’t figure out how to stay on or get off.
When I have my tinfoil hat on, I can see him withdrawing, because the process is “unfair.”
He’s 70 years old. What, in his history, suggests that he actually wants that brutal job?

I will continue to say this, the numbers do not look good for the Gov right now, but 2 years is forever in politics. If PQ is the the Dems nominee, Rauner will win reelection. If Durbin, Dart, or possibly Kennedy get in the race, the Gov’s office has a good chance of going back to the D’s.
