Question of the day

Posted in:

* NBC 5

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich formed a band called the Jailhouse Rockers while serving time at a federal penitentiary in Colorado, according to a sentencing memorandum filed by the disgraced governor’s legal team late Monday night.

According to the memo, Blagojevich formed the band with a fellow inmate, described as “accomplished musician” “Ernie B.” An avowed Elvis fan, Blagojevich paid homage to the king of rock ‘n’ roll by naming his band after one of the famed rocker’s biggest hits.

* The Question: If Gov. Rauner was in a band, what would its name be? Bonus question: Who’d be in it with him?

  15. “Dust in the Wind” would be the group. It’s a nod to the classic rock band, “Kansas”, because Rauner and his gang thought they were going to be dealing with a state and legislature with the ideological bent of the State of Kansas — not Illinois. Also, “Dust in the Wind” is an apt description of what has happened to the state’s social services safety net during his administration. His back-up band and singers would be the ever-devoted (and purchased in total) Gang at the Illinois Policy Institute.

  58. Name of the band - Squeeze the Beast.

1.4% can’t sing lead or backup. Being tone deaf, he won’t be able to carry a tune in a bucket. He won’t be able to play an instrument because he can’t hear if he is in tune with the rest of the band. Don’t know about his rhythm skills. Maybe he can bang on a 5 gallon bucket.

(Dope slap self) I forgot, 1.4% doesn’t listen to anyone so it doesn’t matter if he can’t carry a tune in a bucket or play in tune with the band.

  75. Illinois Brucie Ford

Some people say the governor is made outta mud
The democrats are made outta muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that’s a-weak and a vote that is wrong

You waste sixteen months, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Anyone who don’t like it I’ll show em the door
Cause I owe my soul to the one point four.

I was elected one day when the sun didn’t shine
I look at the legislators and said your butt’s mine
I spent sixteen months spouting hyperbole
And the constituents all said “Well, a-bless my soul”

You waste sixteen months, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
now vendors don’t you call me ’cause I won’t pay
Not until I turn the state around my way.

I was half way done showing Illinois some pain
Fightin’ and name calling is my claim to fame
I was tired of hearing all service providers a cryin
So I blamed it on Madigan and kept on lying

You waste sixteen months, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Anyone who don’t like it I’ll show em the door
Cause I owe my soul to the one point four.
