* ScribbleLive has been a bit buggy today, but hopefully the feeds will be OK this afternoon. Governor’s Day events begin at noon and I’m heading there now. So use this as an Illinois-centric open thread, and follow the day’s events with our live coverage post.

  1. Small potatos, but the House GOP is spending money for the super-longshot opponent of Lisa Hernandez, whose district covers Berwyn and Cicero.

I wonder if they’ll give pro forma support to all GOP state rep candidates - there are a few hopeless causes in Chicago itself, maybe they think if they spend $5,000 in a race, the incumbent will freak out and spend $50,000

  2. Make sure you stay cool Rich. I’m sure you will be exposed to a lot of hot air. Have a Vose’s corn dog and a lemon shakeup.

  3. Have fun at the Fair! Governor’s day should be interesting, but I’m waiting for Conservation Day. Can’t wait to head down this weekend for the fun!

  4. The Iowa State Fair has a bacon wrapped corn dog with bacon sprinkles on it. Is that at the fair anywhere?

  8. I almost forgot the best part. After a bogey on the difficult par 3 12th hole, he broke almost every club in his bag and had to play the final six holes with a left-handed 3-iron.

  10. You should have slipped that third judge an extra beer ticket or two !!!

Yet, once you have shown cattle, it does kind of come second nature. It has been far too many years for me to remember how it was - hoping you still had a great time.

That third judge can afford plenty of tickets. Or even a whole brewery. :)

  12. Here is something Illinois-centric: A judge in Markham gave a non-judge her robe and let her preside over cases. Mark my words: There will be no consequences.
