If something is urgently needed and desired, then don’t hold other stuff hostage. It’s not all that urgent to you or you’d not be refusing to do a budget only deal.

That is the traditional bargaining position of the minority party who’s leaders are hand puppet’s of a plutocrat.

MJM maybe the master politician but he is a major failure in messaging these days. This is a huge part of the ILDP struggle across the state.
There is no demonstrated interest in solving the serious problems we face. They are only interested in positioning and posturing to make the opponent look bad.

Agreed. I think Rauner has been listening to OW and is being reasonably successful in transferring ownership to MJM.
MJM is supporting Rauner’s message that “these are the guys that got us into this mess, and they still don’t want to change.”

Really? Yesterday it was Durkin who was “alarmed” by the lack of urgency.
And Madigan’s waiting on Trump….
And Rauner wants everyone to play nice and cut the politics he knows nothing about….
All of them say that nonsense, about two years into this mess.
It’s sad and embarrassing that they all think they’re slick with the spin.

“A visibly blotchy Mike Madigan reported that he is prepared to do everything but talk about a budget and then proceeded to introduce his point person, a supposed “Budget Expert”, who regaled the press pool with stories of his youth, good places to eat in his district, and his thoughts on today’s Baseball Winter meetings.”

The state law states that the governor must present a balanced budget. Has the governor presented a budget?
