So it appears Paul is the Pat Collins of the CapFax operation, the guy that does all the heavy listing while the name on the door takes the credit.

It’s spring so we have to pay attention to the tax swap again.
In reviewing the current proposal summary I see that it “includes retirement income within the definition of “base income” for certain individuals.” Guess that means that our greedy legislators are going after pension and Social Security income now. Not only will the seniors lose their homes because their net tax rate will go UP if 750 is passed, but this is a frontal assault on the general pension exemption from state income tax in Illinois. A door-opener, so to speak.
But not a peep from AARP, the RSEA et cetera.
Maybe Illinois seniors want to pay more taxes?
If not…..time to wake up, guys.

How about this:
Sequoia Voting Systems will be paid based on how quickly machines transmit results to election headquarters and also by how quickly those votes can be tabulated.
How about we pay politicians on a sliding scale by what they accomplish?

Interesting point. Tax swap “guru” Ralph Martire specifically said senior retirement income (even wealth senior retirement income) was NOT included when he gave the HB/SB 750 pitch at the Capitol a few weeks ago.
Devil’s always in the details.

I may have to get another intern after Paul leaves, but he’ll be extremely tough to replace.

Dick Devine should make lemonade out of lemons. Make the minor traffic violators pay the fine instead of giving them the option of court. That should increase the public coffers. Tell one of the fired prosecuters that they are looking for a chauffeur over at the Dept of Human Services and it comes with a healthy raise.

Nice to see that Blagojevich is at least trying to put on the appearance reaching out to environmental voters; but if he wants to appeal to Green voters, he’s going to have to address issues other than the environment. For example, he’s going to work on basic democratic reforms, such as eliminating the so-called spoiler effect throughout something like Instant Runoff Voting, leveling ballot access requirements, and full public financing of public elections.
He’s going to have to work overtime if he wants even the slightest sympathy from people like me. I’m still furious about his refual to debate Rich Whitney and the outright lies that his campaign told in connection with that.

I’m sorry, but I can’t get too alarmed at the prospect of more pot smokers and prostitues being deprived of prosecution by our rather expensive Cook County state’s attorney’s office.
We have to set some priorities in government and these seem to be on the lower end.
Don’t the police have the authority to impose some type of fine on these individuals. So, have them (or, in the case of prostitutes) the “customers” pay a small fine now or elect to go to court with the likelihood of paying a much larger fine and (in the case of the customers) have your name published in the paper.
I don’t care if people smoke pot, as long as they don’t smoke it around me. As to prostitution, these women mostly need social and medical services not arrest. Require the police to refer them to the appropriate nonprofits. Don’t put them in jail to the tune of the cost of an expensive private education (on my dime).
