IL Congressman Phil Hare (”the fightin 17th”) was on Colbert last night. He actually handled himself very well compared to other Illinois electeds who’ve been on the Daily Show/Colbert Report.
The episode should be rerun today and Monday.

The RTA and CTA problems are not going to be solved until the RTA takes over responsibility for all public transportation including small carriers (jitney cabs and taxicabs) The public would be well served by permitting what is the reality of jitney cabs and expanding the number of taxicab medallions.

Speaking of Guiness, the first beer that I ever had was a Guiness at a pub in Kilarney, Ireland. I expected all beer to taste like that but was very sadly surprised to discover differently. Even the Guiness here in the States doesn’t taste as good (That may have something to do with the fact that they use vats which haven’t been cleaned in more than a century to make the Guiness in Ireland.) Now, if only they would stop using animal bones as a “clarifier” I would go back to drinking it. In the interim, I have found Caffrey’s to be a delightful thick and creamy cousin to Guiness, with a lighter pale color.

Given how easy it is to get email addresses and other online identities, how exactly does the state of IL intend to enforce the requirement that sex offenders report all their future and current email and other online identities? I honestly don’t see this law as being particularly enforceable though I suppose it could be used after the fact (after an assault) to tack on a few more years of time.

The landlord story is interesting. Who knows it probably might be a good idea to appease those who might prove to be trouble eventually. Donate money to them first then give them some office space.
