“I’ve never seen a government leader ask for a tax increase to pay for a budget that doesn’t exist,” said Commissioner Forrest Claypool. “It’s unprecedented.”
Yet a majority of the County Board is indicating they can support some kind of tax hike for government operations, and first up will be a sales tax discussion at a board meeting Monday.

Homespun diva Martha Stewart gushed and made Mayor Daley blush Wednesday after the two met privately after a Stewart speaking engagement at Navy Pier.
• • Gush ‘em: “My goodness mayor, the city is more beautiful than ever,” Stewart told Daley.
• • Blush ‘em: Called the “Martha Stewart of mayors” because of his efforts to beautify the city, Daley responded with a laugh and “really blushed,” said a Sneed source. Then the duo had a 15-minute chat, but I don’t think it was about recipes.

Nice, Daley is consorting with convicted Felons. From all the hired truckl allegations and patronage issues, maybe he really is the Martha Stewart of mayors…and should be in jail.

I keep tellin’ ya, keep an eye on whether the Cook County budget deficit really exists, and, if it exists, how big it really is. Notice that Stroger is asking for the increase before proving the existence and extent of the “deficit” and Commissioners are rolling over even before they see the numbers.
I admit that the premise sounds bizarre, but don’t put ANYTHING past this crew. False “deficits” have existed before in recent memory. Plus, I know of $70 million that is just sitting unspent from the last budget, and that is just one line item.

crook Co elected these bums so know they get what they deserve. You blindly vote for who your told to you deserve high taxes poor services money unaccounted for, politicans putting family and friends on the payroll, someone has to pay for all the do nothing patronage jobs. You idiots got taken by toddy and now its time to pay.
