An Oak Brook community watchdog group accused current and former officials of secretly spending nearly $20,000 on legal fees in a clandestine attempt to fire the village’s top cop.
But the officials named by the group, including former Village President Kevin Quinlan, denied allegations of a plot to terminate Police Chief Thomas Sheahan’s contract and hide the billing statements from members of the village board.
“Nobody set out to fire the chief. That was not the purpose at all,” Quinlan said Wednesday in a phone interview.

it seems no matter how many shady deals the media uncovers, nothing changes. The public releases a collective outcry…and then proceeds to elect/re-elect the same individuals.
The sadest part about all the reporting of our corrupt governments (city/state) is that we truly have no one to blame but ourselves. The media does a pretty good job uncovering what is going on, but not enough seem to care to effectuate change. viva la indictment

Am I the only one who is EXCITED to hear about some alternatives being brought in to offer cable service?
Comcast was bilking customers left and right due to the lack of alternatives. It REALLY was unfair and has left a bad taaste in my mouth about their company as a whole. As SOON as AT&T comes to my area, I will be looking to switch. Not even just because of the money…
… for the principle.
You just don’t do that to customers!

Sounds like there will be an interesting cycle again in the Congressional races. The Roskam/Morgenthaler race will be intense I’m sure.
The primary between Lee and Baldermann will certainly be one to watch, along with Round 2 against Halvorson.
I think Morgenthaler will be strong on the PR side, while Lee will bring some experience and fundraising to the race, with Baldermann being on shaky ground.

I hope the story on Daleys developer pals being given inside information and then making huge money by getting the city to overvalue contaminated land costing the taxpayers over a million dollars has some legs. This type of corruption is the reason that Daley wants more taxpayer money so he can give it to his friends and campaign contributors. Between TIFS and deals like this corruption is costing this citys taxpayers millions and millions every year. Fitgerald has been a failure at stopping the chicago/crook co. dem machine and the citizens of the city, Co. and state are to lazy or ignorant to do anything but what there ward boss tells them on election day. So Daley Stroger and Blago are what illinois deserves

Morgenthaler is incorrect in her assessment of the issues in IL-6. Healthcare, war, education and taxes, mostly in that order. I’m very interested in what she plans on doing with immigration.

One more thing re Phony Tony Peraica.
Speaking of phony, there’s a shill post supporting Peraica and ripping this new female challenger over on that Illinois Review blog thingee. Liz Gorman gets ripped too of course. It’s supposedly from one “Tyler Jones” but that’s actually Curt Mercadante, a Peraica campaign guy. Trust me on that. There is no “Tyler Jones.”
The point is, there seems to be literally nothing Peraica won’t say or do in his lust for power and relevance.
Is this a guy anyone really wants to see as the top law enforcement officer in Cook County?

If you look up “pay-to-play” in the dictionary, you'’ll likely see a picture of McMahon Foods. Take a peek at some of the contracts they’ve gotten from both Cook County and the City of Chicago (accessible from Peraica’s website’s vendor list and the City’s website), then look at the contributions from McMahon individuals and corporate entities on the Board of Elections website. I think Peraica is the lesser of two evils here.

I don’t think there is a lesser evil where Peraica is concerned. It would be less embarrassing for the GOP to run George Ryan again before Peraica. The guy is clearly unhinged.
