Buggy

Posted in:

I’ve noticed that Firefox is getting a little bit buggy lately. It’s crashing and freezing up more than it did before. Not sure if it’s Firefox or me. Anyone else having problems?

  3. Yeah! It’ll lock up sometimes or my mouse cursor will slow and have jagged movement. Also, I’ve noticed that some ‘clickable’ graphics, like buttons, will not appear at all as they do in IE. Text also wil overlap borders, etc.

  4. No problems here with Firefox. If you want to try another non-IE browser, Opera isn’t a bad choice that seems to be pretty stable.

  5. I’ve notice I am getting pop ups more often than I did a couple when I started using Firefox over the summer.

  6. This is paranoia speaking, but I think the latest Windows XP update may have something in it designed to screw with FireFox. It seems like I’ve gotten more crashes and popups since installing their latest update about two weeks ago.

  7. There may be some truth to that about the Windows Updates. I haven’t had any problems with Firefox crashing, and I haven’t installed any update since Service Pack 2.

I do notice that sometimes with certain JavaScript additions to sites present, it has a tendency to slow down or stutter. An example - a website someone runs at my school, www.twosouth.com , causes Firefox to stutter when I load it. The problem with that has to do with the JavaScript counter he has at the bottom of the site.

  8. Rich, have you done any OS X maintenance lately? If you run Yasu, Cocktail or one of the other free or cheap maintenance tools, it might really help. I couldn’t get Firefox to load, ran Yasu, and was right back in business…
